We are so thrilled to celebrate and welcome the newest member of our Wind Studies faculty with the addition of Katharine Reed as Lecturer of Wind Studies and Director of Athletic Bands! Professor Reed offers a wealth of experience and leadership which will continue to bolster and cultivate the highest levels of education and experience for our students. Congrats and welcome! GMG!

KATHARINE REED APPOINTED TO UNT FACULTY: John W. Richmond, Ph.D., Professor and Dean of the College of Music, announces that Katharine Reed has been appointed as the Lecturer of Wind Studies and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of North Texas. She is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Conducting here UNT. Prior to her studies at the College of Music, Ms. Reed served as Director of Bands at Hudson High School in Hudson, Ohio, and Director of Bands at Durango High School in Durango, Colorado. Among a number of awards, most recently, the UNT Faculty Senate named her the 2025–2026 Outstanding Teaching Fellow/Teaching Assistant. Similarly, she was named Graduate Student of the Year from The University of Akron. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental K–12 Music Education from Iowa State University, and a Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting from the University of Akron.

COLLEGE OF MUSIC CELEBRATES AMY WOODY: Following a national search, Professor and Dean of the College of Music, John W. Richmod, Ph.D, announces the appointment of Dr. Amy Woody as Assistant Professor of Wind Studies. She moves from her current UNT position as Lecturer in Wind Studies and Director of Athletic Bands. Prior to that appointment, Dr. Woody served as a Teaching Fellow in the UNT Wind Studies Area where duties included teaching the Concert Band, University Bands, Fundamentals of Conducting and assisting with all aspects of concert and athletic ensembles. She was named one of four UNT Outstanding Teaching Fellow Award recipients for the 2022–2023 school year Dr. Woody served as the Director of Bands (2014–2021) and Associate Director of Bands (2007–2014) at John H. Guyer High School in Denton. She recently served as the Chief Programs Officer for the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and is a graduate of the University of North Texas (DMA in Wind Conducting), Eastman School of Music (MM in clarinet performance), and Baylor University (BM of music education). The North Texas Wind Symphony will perform in their final concert of the semester as Eugene Migliaro Corporon conducts his final concert at the University of North Texas. We are excited to celebrate Professor Corporon and his contributions to UNT over the last thirty-two years!
