Week 1 of our Summer of Action and Liberation program done ✅

Students learned about Movimiento Poder and current issues, got some block printing in, and connected with students from across Denver fighting to make a change in their communities. We can't wait for week 2 ✊🏽

On June 15, 1982, the Supreme Court affirmed in Plyler v. Doe that all children—regardless of immigration status—have the right to access a free public education.

44 years later, that very right is under attack. We must continue to protect the right to a free, public education for ALL children.

Exactly 44 years later, that promise remains deeply connected to whether students feel safe enough to learn. Today, we recognize the anniversary of this landmark decision and honor The López Family and the families who helped make this ruling possible.

As we recognize the anniversary of Plyler v. Doe, we are reminded that protecting access to education also means protecting a student’s sense of safety, belonging, and opportunity.

Trump just signed a bill passed by Congress that directs roughly $70 billion in additional taxpayer funding to ICE and Border Patrol through the end of his term. Instead of investing in communities, healthcare, education, or housing, billions more of OUR tax dollars will go toward expanding detention, deportation, and militarized immigration enforcement.

We will not stand by while our communities continue to be terrorized and targeted. We must invest in care, love, and our communities.

Trump acaba de firmar una ley aprobada por el Congreso que destina aproximadamente 70.000 millones de dólares adicionales al ICE y a la Patrulla Fronteriza hasta el final de su mandato. Huge thank you to everyone who joined us last week as we celebrated the passage of EL-10, a significant victory and policy that helps ensure that our Denver Public Schools (DPS) immigrant students, families, and communities are safer. ✊🏽 Together, we celebrated this important milestone and recognized the people who made this win possible.

This achievement reflects the dedication, leadership, and perseverance of students, parents, educators, community members, and advocates who came together to organize and demand change.

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 ✨ This month, we celebrate the joy and contributions of LGBTQ+ communities while honoring the ongoing fight for collective liberation.

As attacks on LGBTQ+ rights continue across the country, we must also recognize those carrying the weight of multiple systems of oppression, from LGBTQ+ migrants, undocumented q***r and trans people, Black and Brown LGBTQ+ communities, and others whose identities place them at the frontlines of injustice. There is no Pride while q***r and trans migrants are denied safety.

This Pride Month, we celebrate our communities and recommit to the work of building a world where everyone can live freely, safely, and with dignity.

¡Feliz Mes del Orgullo! 🏳️‍🌈 ✨ Este mes celebramos la alegría y las contribuciones de las comunidades LGBTQ+, al tiempo que honramos la lucha continua por la liberación colectiva.

A medida que persisten los ataques contra los derechos LGBTQ+ en todo el país, debemos reconocer también a quienes cargan con el peso de múltiples sistemas de opresión: desde las personas migrantes LGBTQ+, las personas q***r y trans indocumentadas, las comunidades LGBTQ+ negras y morenas, hasta otras cuyas identidades las sitúan en la primera línea de la injusticia. At Movimiento Poder, we fight for a world where immigrant, first-gen, women, and q***r Latines can live with dignity, safety, and a sense of belonging. We organize with love, care for our community, and build power together because our struggles are connected.
