As the daughter of a Holocaust Survivor, today is both meaningful and important to me. This is why I speak. Yearly, my father lit a candle for Yom HaShoah. He would mourn his parents and his extended family. His favorite aunt, Bronka, who he always ran to when he got into 7 & 8-year-old trouble, like a big bike accident that left a large scar on his left knee. When talking about his scars from the 4 concentration camps he was forced to be a slave in over 5 years of his young life, he would get reminiscent of his being indomitable. But his eyes would mist over remembering his aunt Bronka. His dark cloud would return and he would remain silent. The injury, the losses, the horrors, the murders, the trauma. The Holocaust must be remembered and taught. In order to take action, you must know what you are fighting and speaking up against to have the strength and courage to act. Choose to be a Standupster.

Right now, our hearts are with the Iranian people. We stand with the Iranian people and with the Persian community in the United States, many of whom know firsthand the cost of standing up for freedom. A regime does not define a people; their courage does. For too long, they have lived under repression, unable to live freely and choose their own future. Their struggle is not against another nation; it is against a regime that has constrained their potential and exported instability far beyond Iran’s borders.
We also stand with the people of Israel and our American service members serving abroad. The people of Israel and Iran are not natural enemies. Both are heirs to ancient civilizations that have given the world faith, scholarship, poetry, and innovation. Both deserve security. Both deserve dignity. Both deserve a future free from extremism.
History teaches that when conflict escalates, old prejudices quickly resurface. Jewish communities, and others, must not become scapegoats for crises they did not create.

"When I think about the “crisis of masculinity” and the need for boys to have a healthy concept of masculine virtue, 𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀. A good man is a man who helps people weaker than him or worse off than him: carries an exhausted child, reaches the stuff others can’t reach, controls his temper, uses his voice and presence to help, not hurt, and stands up to bullies. That’s the kind of men that are in my family and it’s the kind I am proud that my son is becoming. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶 𝘄𝗮𝘀. A strong man in life’s prime, working as a nurse, and showing up in a volatile scene to put himself between women and a jackboot who was shoving them around. He didn’t swing a punch, he just stepped in to deescalate, to use his man’s body as a shield for a person knocked to the ground. And the government that has forged itself into the grotesque inverse of that manly virtue executed him on the street for it." - Amanda G.
