Iliff has been out and about this summer ☀️

Our Admissions team hit the road for Pride celebrations in Colorado Springs and Fort Collins, sharing Iliff’s spirit and meeting folks where they are. 🌈

Last week, a few staff and faculty members joined Iliff’s President & CEO, Dr. Lee H. Butler, Jr., in Montana for the UMC Conference, where he offered updates on the exciting work happening at Iliff. The trip wrapped up with an Alumni Happy Hour — a chance to reconnect, celebrate, and strengthen our Iliff network.

This summer, we’re celebrating the journeys of our students—now alumni/ae—as they step into what’s next. From continuing their education, to launching creative ventures, to answering calls to ministry, our Iliffians are moving into the world with purpose and heart.

Kicking things off, we’re celebrating Diane Morris, who graduated with her Master of Divinity (MDiv) and is beginning her next chapter as a hospice chaplain in Southern Vermont.

“Iliff was integral in my being hired by the hospice, as I needed an M.Div. to continue with the work. I’ll always be grateful for my education there.”

We recently honored Dr. Catherine Kelsey, who served for two decades at Iliff School of Theology, leaving behind a transformative and deeply rooted legacy of spiritual leadership and care.

An ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, Cathie devoted 22 years to Iliff, beginning as Director of Chapel and Spiritual Life. As a renowned Friedrich Schleiermacher scholar, her roles at Iliff evolved, serving as Visiting Professor of Theology to the Dean of the Chapel and Spiritual Formation.

"You have been a spiritual guide, professor, administrator, co-laborer, and phenomenal donor... we are beloved to bless her as she embraces a new vision for her life," President & CEO Lee H. Bulter, Jr. said.

Dr. Kelsey was honored with a desk plaque shared with Ved Nanda, a respected Board of Trustees member and DU law professor. The chair still bears his original inscription of appreciation, and a new plate was added for Cathie, recognizing her retirement on June 1, 2026, and her service.

We also honored her generosity with the grand opening of the Cathie Kelsey Art Gallery at Iliff, and at Commencement, she was recognized as Emerita Dean of the Chapel and Spiritual Formation.

Thank you, Cathie, for the wisdom, compassion, and care you’ve given to our community.
