To our 8th-grade graduates, it is never easy letting you go. Today we listened to your 27 unique speeches - your bright and clear voices carried among the trees, and we knew you were ready.
You did the work.
You laughed and learned.
You did things you didn't think you could do.
You made mistakes and memories.
You climbed hill after hill until finally, it was your turn to ride down.
On that ride today,
I hope you looked up at the trees and felt at home.
I hope you looked at younger kids and saw wonder.
I hope you looked at each other and saw friends.
I hope you looked at the teachers and saw support.
I hope you looked at family and felt grateful.
Best of luck on your high school adventures!

Last week we got to spend a morning with the RipRoar Youth Triathlon Series team introducing our Bergman kids to the world of triathlon. 🏊🚴🏃 From swim to bike to run, it was so fun watching them explore the sport and discover something new. So thankful for the opportunity to give these kids a taste of what's possible. Who knows, we might have a few future triathletes in the making! 💪

Our 6th Graders had an incredible experience this week connected to their current study of the Civil Rights Movement. During this unit of study, students read a powerful book, "The Watsons Go To Birmingham - 1963." This year, through the work of a Bergman parent and their 6th-grade teachers, students were given the opportunity to Zoom with Sarah Collins Rudolph.
Sarah is a survivor of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham in 1963. Sarah's sister died in the bombing, along with three other young girls. The bombing left Sarah blinded in one eye and severely injured. To hear from a primary source regarding her experience of this terrible tragedy and the impact on her life was an experience our students will remember forever.
