nd passion touched the hearts and souls of all generations. DWDA trains students ages 2-90 in all disciplines of dance and dance ministry. DWDA was founded by native Detroiter’s Bruce Hunt and Debra White-Hunt. DWDA youth and adult companies have danced throughout the world and been awarded locally, nationally, and internationally as being the best. The Detroit-Windsor Dance Company (DWDC) dances nationally and internationally. For the past 35+ seasons, from Capetown, South Africa to Sydney, Australia, from NYC to California, and to our own International Sister City backyard, our Detroit based company has compiled an impressive record of critical acclaim. 15 million, 7 hundred, 87 thousand, 463 minutes; 30 years of excellence. We’ve traveled the world and poured into the hearts and lives of thousands of those under out tutelage. Last year, we danced in New York and had a fabulous summer camp concert. We also danced in the Detroit Design Festival where Tracey Reese (Detroiter, Cass Tech grad), designer of Michelle Obama’s convention speech dress, sent one of her beautiful designer blouses to be presented to our Artistic Director. We established the Acorn Society, a group of young talented dancers (ages 6-12) with awesome potential. We ministered I dance at Advent Services, Christmas services, Noel Night, and Jerusalem Temple for Mentally challenged, to name a few. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority at U of M, Pontiac, and Detroit invited us to dance celebrating in the Centennial Anniversary programs. DWDA brought down the house at the 17th Annual Auto Show Urban Wheels tribute to women with “I’m Every Woman”. A highlight of our season was when seven of our dancers , under age 10 and 5’0, had the opportunity to dance at the Detroit Opera House with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. The Fresh Beginnings program with the Wayne County Health Authority gave our dancers the opportunity through dance to sow into the hearts of young girls and teens whose lives were very challenging. Our 8 year old Kendal Saffold landed a dance role in the Michigan Opera Theatre’s “Aida”. DWDA Alumni and UArts college grad Demetrius Shields returned from dancing on a cruise ship’s world tour and set choreography on our Acorn dancers. Alum and teacher Gabrielle Smith completed an internship at DWDA as a Wayne State University student and brought vision for many future activities. Alum and teacher Amber Moore graduated summa cm laude fro WSU, on a dance scholarship. Some of the events we’ve participated in include dancing with Insane Posse, completing dance residencies in the community with Artistic Vibrations at Duke Ellington School, an etiquette class sponsored by the Acorn and Intermediate Workshop, the red carpet movie opening with Glory Reelz Christian Film Fest, dance concerts on all levels (children thru professionals), musicals, etc. This summer, our dancers were selected to study with the Dance Theatre of Harlem and Marygrove College. We held our overwhelmingly successful 29th Annual Spring Concert. We now embark on 15 million, 7 hundred, 87 thousand, 463 minutes; 30 years of excellence.
