Hello 5th Grade Families!

Transitioning to middle school is a big step! Transition camp is a free, four-day experience designed specifically to help upcoming 6th graders feel confident, prepared, and excited for the journey ahead. Students will practice opening lockers, meet their teachers, preview 6th-grade schoolwork, and make new friends.
Transportation is available!
Registration is required.

Location: At your middle school
Dates: Monday, July 13th – Thursday, July 16th
Time: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Kindergarten Registration & Kinder Camp Reminder!

Register your incoming kindergartener by July 7 to secure their opportunity to attend Kinder Camp!

Kinder Camp is an excellent opportunity for students to become familiar with their new school, meet staff and classmates, learn routines, and build confidence before the first day of school.

This is a great way to help your child make a smooth and successful transition into kindergarten. We can’t wait to welcome our newest Eastside Bears! ❤️🖤

In collaboration with the City of Douglasville, Douglas County Government, Douglas County Government and the West Georgia Regional Library System System, the Douglas County School System has launched its Douglas Loves Literacy Summer Reading Challenge.
The first summer reading pop-up event will be held tonight from 6-7 p.m. at the DCSS
Central Office on Veterans Memorial Highway.
The challenge encourages participants to help reach a community goal of 3 million minutes of reading by July 31.
Keeping with the district's theme "Greatness Grows Here," the initiative invites students, families and community members to join a countywide effort to promote literacy and foster a love of reading.

The Douglas County School System (DCSS) invites the community along with Principals, other school leaders, teachers, paraprofessionals, specialized instructional support staff, charter school leaders, Title I parents, parents, Homeless Liaison/Foster Care Point of Contact, community partners, EL Parents, Out-of-School Youth and/or Drop-out participants, and other Organizational Partners (such as RESA, SREB, REL, AIR, Solution Tree) to give input on the Consolidated LEA Improvement Plan (CLIP). Please take part by providing valuable input into the continued efforts of the DCSS to improve student achievement.

Save the date for the Douglas County School System's Back to School Kick-Off — Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Legacy Arena, 9030 Hwy. 5, Douglasville.

Current DCSS students and families are invited for food, fun, school supplies and more! Community agencies offering a variety of resources will be onsite to provide information and assistance. Please be prepared to follow the clear bag policy.
