🌍💙 After a disaster, emotional recovery also needs a path
Adolescents may experience fear, confusion, or intrusive thoughts after living through a traumatic event. Understanding that these reactions are normal - and that recovery is not linear - is a key first step towards wellbeing.
Through the RESPONDS project, we work to support teachers, families, and educational communities with practical tools to help young people in their emotional recovery process.
📌 Today’s infographic presents:
🔹 The phases of emotional recovery, from the initial impact to gradual adaptation.
🔹 The key idea that moving forward and backward is part of the healing process.
🔹 A simple and effective technique: Name - Separate - Ground, which helps young people recognise thoughts, separate them from reality, and return to the present through the senses.
These strategies can be used at school or at home to create safe spaces where adolescents feel supported and understood.
💬 Supporting mental health after a disaster is not only a clinical task: it is an educational and community responsibility.

In 3D-YES, the partnership is also working on the wider training foundation through the preparation of content, motivating graphics and supporting resources that can strengthen the learning journey. These elements play an important role in making training more accessible, engaging and meaningful for participants. They help transform project ideas into educational material that is not only informative, but also inviting and easier to connect with.
By preparing these resources alongside the learning modules, 3D-YES continues to build a training approach that combines structure, creativity and inclusion, supporting the project’s wider goal of giving vulnerable young people practical and inspiring opportunities to learn.

3D-YES brings together six organisations from Spain, Greece, Italy, Ireland and Cyprus, each contributing different expertise to a shared goal: supporting vulnerable young people through social entrepreneurship and 3D innovation for inclusion. Batá coordinates the project, while the wider partnership combines experience in youth work, disability inclusion, innovation, training and dissemination.
From Córdoba and Huelva to Larissa, Cerignola, Dublin and Limassol, this consortium connects local knowledge with European cooperation. Together, the partners will work on entrepreneurship training, 3D printing learning, customised devices for people with motor disabilities, piloting activities, communication and project visibility.
This partnership is the foundation of 3D-YES, a project built on collaboration, inclusion and practical innovation across Europe.

What is 3D-YES all about? 3D-YES is a European project that promotes inclusion and digital innovation among vulnerable young people through social entrepreneurship and practical training in 3D printing. The project is designed to help young people build useful skills while contributing to solutions that can support the autonomy of people with motor disabilities.
Through 3D-YES, participants will strengthen entrepreneurial thinking, develop capacity in CAD design, 3D printing and rapid prototyping, and take part in a process that connects learning with real social impact. At the same time, the project promotes inclusion, youth participation and European values.
Among the expected results are training modules on social economy and entrepreneurship management, training on 3D printing and customised devices for people with motor disabilities, piloting activities, a youth creativity competition, a project website, and ongoing dissemination across partner countries.

📢 RESPONDS is advancing in the development of its post-disaster mental health training materials
The RESPONDS project is currently finalizing the first of its key project results: R2.1 – Theoretical Modules and Practical Exercises in Emotional Management and Mental Health in Post-Disaster Situations.
This training resource will consist of 12 modules designed to provide practical tools and essential knowledge to help understand and address the emotional and psychological impact following a disaster.
🧠 What topics will these modules cover?
Throughout this learning pathway, participants will explore key areas such as:
✔️ Understanding the emotional and psychological phases experienced after a disaster.
✔️ Identifying and understanding emotions and feelings that arise in crisis situations.
✔️ Managing intrusive thoughts, hopelessness, and feelings of abandonment.
✔️ Coping with chronic stress, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and hypervigilance.
✔️ Reorganizing daily life, routines, and personal meaning after the impact.
✔️ Developing effective post-traumatic resilience.
✔️ Applying strategies to prevent intense emotional reactions.
✔️ Using resources to prevent maladaptive cognitive, behavioral, and physical reactions.
✔️ Identifying and reinforcing positive and protective factors.
✔️ Strengthening intrapersonal resources.
✔️ Applying useful guidance during the first weeks following a disaster.
✔️ Reprocessing the lived experience and detecting warning signs that may require specialized support.
🌍 With this result, RESPONDS moves forward in its mission to strengthen emotional and psychological response capacities in post-disaster contexts, contributing to the recovery and well-being of individuals and affected communities.
🔜 More information about the availability of these modules and the next phases of the project will be shared soon. Stay tuned for updates!
