48 college programs and an NWSL scout attended our first Girls Academy Playoff match in Norco, California.

The Girls Academy continues to provide one of the premier platforms in the country for players pursuing opportunities at the collegiate and professional levels.

Programs in attendance included:

USC, Purdue, Michigan State, Liberty, North Dakota, Indiana, Colorado, Arizona, Santa Clara, Cal State Bakersfield, Penn State, Loyola Marymount, High Point, Green Bay, Dartmouth, South Florida, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Hawai’i, Kansas, Pepperdine, Lipscomb, Georgetown, Cal Baptist, Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, Saint Mary’s, Idaho, Eastern Michigan, Dayton, Tarleton State, Louisville, Grand Valley State, Fairmont State, Emporia State, Missouri Western, Florida Southern, Dominican (CA), Tampa, NYU, Illinois Tech, Sarah Lawrence, Occidental, Trine, Arcadia, York College, William Woods, and an NWSL scout.

We’re excited to welcome Uri Montoya as the Lead Video Analyst for our Club Ohio U19 MLS NEXT Homegrown program.

Through match analysis, opponent scouting, and individual player review, Uri will help our players see the game differently, understand it more deeply, and continue pushing their development forward.

Today, we celebrate four members of our 2012 MLS NEXT team who have earned opportunities to continue their development within MLS academies:

By signing the Club Ohio Wall of Fame, they join a growing legacy of players who have moved on to MLS academies, international academies, collegiate programs, and professional pathways.

Their names now stand as a reminder to the next generation of Club Ohio players that hard work, dedication, and belief in the process can open doors to incredible opportunities.

Congratulations, Holden, Colton, Joel, and Nick. We are proud of your accomplishments and excited to follow the next chapter of your journeys.

Club Ohio is excited to introduce Josh Whalen as our MLS NEXT AD Technical Director for the 2026-2027 season.

A USSF B Licensed Coach and one of the most respected youth coaches in Central Ohio, Josh brings more than two decades of experience developing players, building programs, and creating opportunities for athletes to reach the next level.

In this newly created role, Josh will oversee the continued growth and development of our MLS NEXT Academy Division platform while strengthening the pathway between our affiliate clubs, MLS NEXT AD teams, and MLS NEXT Homegrown program.

His responsibilities will include player identification, coach support and development, oversight of training methodology, and helping ensure that talented players throughout the Club Ohio network have a clear pathway to higher levels of competition.

Josh’s passion for player development, commitment to excellence, and deep roots within the Central Ohio soccer community make him an outstanding addition to our leadership team.
