There's a reason classical education has endured for centuries. It doesn't treat young minds like empty containers waiting to be filled. It trusts that something is already alive in there—curiosity, wonder, the instinct to make sense of the world—and it works to draw that out rather than bury it under information.
When a child learns to truly see, to ask, to connect ideas to the living world around them, something takes root. And what takes root that way doesn't fade when the test is over. It stays. It grows. It becomes theirs. That's the kind of education we believe in at Telos Academy.

Telos Academy
God brought Telos into my life so that I could deepen my walk with Him and teach me that He should be the center of my school.
TELOS has given me the desire to pursue God first and trust that everything else will be added. ~Rianna Guzman, graduated 2024
Happy Summer Solstice to every student, parent, and family in our community!
Summer gets a bad reputation sometimes, like it's just a pause between the "real" work. But we think differently. Rest is not the enemy of learning—it's part of it. The long afternoons, the unhurried mornings, the books read just for the joy of it, the conversations that happen on long drives with nowhere urgent to be—that's formation too. That's becoming.
John Lubbock once wrote: "Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day is by no means a waste of time."
We couldn't agree more.
So this summer—rest well, wonder often, and let your mind wander a little. You might be surprised what grows in the quiet.
We'll be here in August, ready to pick up right where we left off.
This is why we do what we do.
Hearing a student light up talking about Chemistry and Logic—two subjects that ask you to think carefully, reason deeply, and never stop asking why—that's everything.
It's not always easy. Chemistry asks you to see the invisible world hiding inside everything around you. Logic asks you to slow down, question your assumptions, and build an argument that actually holds. These aren't easy wins. They're the kind of classes that stretch you.
And that's exactly the point.
We don't shy away from the hard stuff here—because we believe students are capable of so much more than we often give them credit for. When you give a young person a real challenge and a community that believes in them, something incredible happens. They rise to it. Every time.
If you have a student who is curious, who loves to ask questions, who's ready to be challenged in the best way—we'd love to meet them.
What if we've been measuring education all wrong?
Not by test scores. Not by how fast a child grasps a concept. Not by how many facts they can recall on demand—but by who they are slowly, quietly becoming.
Eugene Peterson once wrote: "Education should be a long obedience in the same direction—a slow, deliberate shaping of the mind and the heart. It's not about speed or scores; it's about becoming. And what we are becoming matters more than what we can accomplish."
We believe that deeply.
Real learning doesn't happen in a rush. It happens in the in-between moments — in a question a child asks that surprises even them, in the patience it takes to sit with something hard, in the slow dawning of understanding that no grade can fully capture. It happens in community, in relationship, in the kind of spaces where a child feels safe enough to truly think.
That's the kind of education we're committed to. Not a conveyor belt. Not a checklist. A journey—taken together, one deliberate step at a time.
If this resonates with you, we'd love to have your family be part of our community. 💛 We offer both a 3-day and a 1-day program designed with this philosophy at the heart of everything we do. Spots are limited, and we'd love to connect with you.
Send us a DM or reach out through the link in our bio to learn more about enrolling—we'd love to meet you and your child.
When you ask a senior what makes Telos different, this is what they say.
Meet Alexander—Class of 2026.
His favorite thing about Telos Academy? The teachers. Not just because they're good at what they teach, but because of how real they are. They genuinely care about who you are, where you're headed, and whether you actually succeed—inside the classroom and beyond it.
That kind of relationship changes everything about how you learn.

This is why teacher character matters at Telos Academy.
"In the classical Christian tradition, the teacher is not just an instructor but a guide — a living witness who walks ahead on the road of virtue and wisdom. To teach is not to download facts but to disciple the soul. This is why the character of the teacher matters just as much as the content of the lesson." —Josh Gibbs
At Telos Academy, we don't just hire teachers. We invite guides—men and women of virtue who walk alongside your child every single day.
Is this the kind of education you've been looking for?

When your favorite class makes you think differently about EVERYTHING you read…
Meet Cora—and her favorite class at Telos? Literature.
She loves how Mr. Mende turns every text into a treasure hunt — teaching students to find the hidden Easter eggs authors bury in their writing and actually think through what they're reading, not just get through it.
That's the Telos difference. Curious minds. Meaningful learning.

Congrats Derek Masser!
4th degree black belt. Tournament competitor. Filmmaker, director, actor. Youth production lead. Tae Kwon Do coach. Junior Systems Analyst. And now, Computer Engineering student.
What makes Derek's story remarkable is not the list—it is the thread running through all of it. From the mat to the camera to the church production booth, Derek has approached every arena with the same quiet determination and a heart that has always pointed back to God. He has not chased titles. He has chased faithfulness, and the rest has followed.
This fall he takes his next step, and we have every confidence the Lord who began this good work in him will carry it forward.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." — Jeremiah 29:11
We are so proud of you, Derek.
Meet Alexis Hernandez. 2026 Telos Grad.
Alexis has always been drawn to beauty—in the world around her, in the stories she draws, and in the God she has loved since giving her life to Him at thirteen. That encounter changed everything, and it set her on a path that has been leading somewhere extraordinary ever since.
With a fire for overseas missions and a deep love for children, Alexis is not just dreaming about the nations, she is preparing for them. She plans to pursue a degree in Theology and Missions or Apologetics, equipping herself with the knowledge and conviction to go where few are willing to go and share the love of a God who leaves none behind.
Congrats Alexis. We are so proud of you.
