🦅I Am Solano: Aquaporins 🦠 and Aquafaba 🌱 – Meet Lab Tech Cecilia González Corona
If you’ve wondered where the prepped petri dishes 🧫 or reagents come from in our BIO courses – we can confirm they aren’t whipped out of thin air by a genie 🧞 (though our lab techs’ abilities might seem magical ✨)...and no, they are not dropped off by UFO 🛸 either.
Behind the scenes, our hard-working Lab Techs 👩🔬, fueled by a passion for science 🔬 and inspiring students 📚.
Cecilia is our full-time Biology 🧬 Lab Technician, preparing materials for 18 – 21 individual classes each semester👏
She began her biological studies in Texas, at Lone Star Community College ⭐ She soon transferred to the University of Houston, where she earned a Bachelor's in Biology 🧫 and minored in Health 🏥
Prior to working in education 🍎, Cecilia worked in research at Baylor College of Medicine, where she was a lab tech and manager for several years. During that time, she studied maternal diabetes 🩺, helping shape our understanding of how pre-existing diabetes in pregnant women affects the developing child. ❤️
Swapping Houston’s humidity 🌧️ for a crisper climate 🍃, Cecilia discovered SCC – and we quickly swept her up. 🦅
But her life is not all cytoplasts and microscopes 🧬🔬...Cecilia is an avid reader, with 850+ books under her belt 📖. Though she's been working in science for many years, she mostly reads history 📜 and politics ⚖️.
When not in the lab 🧪, she uses her science skills in the kitchen 🍳 to experiment with baking and cooking – the vegan way! 🌱
As if not busy enough, Cecilia is an animal lover 🐾 with two cats of her own 🐈, while also volunteering at the Vallejo animal shelter. ❤️🐱

❤️🤍💙All gave some, some gave all. ❤️🤍💙
We're proud to support our veteran and military-connected students through our ✨Veteran Resource Center ✨, providing guidance, community, and support to those who've served and their families on their educational journey.
Enjoy this time with friends and family as we honor those who gave everything for our freedom.

Looking to post flyers or share info on campus? Here's how to do it the right way 📌
As much as we love creativity, when it comes to posting flyers, doing so improperly can cause damage to campus and safety concerns. We're happy to help share opportunities, though how it's done matters.
Improper posting methods may seem harmless, but can lead to costly repairs — money that we'd rather go toward improving campus life. This can also hinder sharing important information with the community.
Help keep campus clean, organized, and safe for all, by following these guidelines. ⬇️
❌ Not OK:
• Posting flyers on digital screens, SOOFA Kiosks, walls, windows, doors, painted surfaces, restrooms, classrooms, furnishings, or any non-designated space
• Posting without proper approval
• Leaving outdated flyers up
• Overlapping flyers
• Using campus brochure stands, pockets, tabletops, or desks for posting
• Using tape, staples, thumbtacks, adhesives, or any form of adhesives
• Posting outside of designated boards
• Leafletting or distributing materials in other inappropriate manners
✅ OK / Best Practice:
• Get approval prior to posting — contact the Student Development Office
• Use designated bulletin boards only (look for ASSC boards in hallways)
• Include clear event info + contact details
• Use push pins on bulletin boards
• Remove flyers once outdated
• Keep it clean, simple, and easy to read
Respect the space and your community. Thanks for doing your part 💙
