Parents, one thing I need yāall to understand is thisā¦
A child struggling in multiple subjects usually does NOT start with them ānot paying attention.ā š
A lot of students are struggling because they were never fully taught how to read in a way that helps them truly understand, process, and think through what theyāre learning independently.
And once students hit upper elementary and middle school?
Everything changes from ālearning to readā to āreading to learn.ā
So if the foundation is weak⦠every subject starts to feel harder.
Reading. Math word problems. Science. Social studies. Testing. Independent work. Confidence. All of it.
Thatās why summer is SO important. āļø
Summer gives students the opportunity to:
⨠Strengthen foundational gaps
⨠Build confidence without classroom pressure
⨠Receive targeted support
⨠Learn strategies that actually help them think independently
⨠Walk into the next school year stronger instead of further behind
At Growing Strong Minds, our summer program is designed to help students grow academically while also rebuilding confidence in themselves as learners. š¤
Spots are limited and already filling quickly for summer sessions!

One thing I need parents to understand is this:
A child struggling academically does not suddenly disappear because summer starts.
And I think sometimes we unintentionally treat summer break like a reset button when really⦠for some children⦠it becomes a pause that allows the gaps to grow even bigger.
Because while your child is moving to the next grade level⦠the expectations are moving too.
Reading gets harder.
Math moves faster.
Comprehension expectations increase.
Independence increases.
And children who already felt behind this year can start next year already overwhelmed before they even have the chance to rebuild confidence.
Thatās why I will always speak up about intentional summer support.
Not because kids donāt deserve fun.
Not because they need to sit at a table all day.
But because they deserve to feel CONFIDENT when they walk back into school.
Some of the biggest transformations Iāve seen with students happened over the summer because we finally had the time and space to slow down, target the gaps, and help things click.
Summer tutoring is not punishment.
Itās preparation. š¤
If your child struggled this school year, letās work now before next year becomes even harder.
Summer enrollment for Growing Strong Minds is now open. āØ

A lot of children donāt actually āhateā reading⦠they just havenāt experienced reading in a way that feels enjoyable, successful, or connected to their interests yet. šš©·
Sometimes the avoidance comes from struggling with certain reading skills. Other times, children simply havenāt found books that truly excite them. Thatās why itās so important to pay attention to how your child responds to reading instead of forcing it to feel like a chore.
Here are a few ways to help:
⨠Find books based on THEIR interests
⨠Make reading interactive and fun
⨠Use funny voices and ask questions while reading
⨠Let them have a choice in what they read
⨠Focus on progress, not perfection
Reading should feel like an adventure, not punishment. The goal is to help children build confidence so they begin to see reading as something they can enjoy. š«¶š½

Parents⦠I know YouTube feels like the easiest option sometimes. You type in ālearn to read,ā hand your child the iPad, and hope it clicks. But reading growth happens when children are actively practicing, making mistakes, getting corrected, and building confidence in real time. š©·
A video can support learning⦠but it should never replace intentional teaching.
This summer, donāt let your child fall further behind while hoping they ācatch on eventually.ā Letās figure out whatās truly causing the struggle and create a plan that helps them grow in decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension step by step. šāØ
Inside of Growing Strong Minds Summer Sessions, your child will receive:
⢠Targeted reading support
⢠Interactive learning activities
⢠Encouragement that builds confidence
⢠Instruction based on THEIR learning needs
⢠A safe space to grow without feeling ashamed of mistakes
Summer is the perfect time to close learning gaps before the next school year begins. The earlier support starts, the easier it becomes to rebuild confidence and strengthen foundational skills. š±

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week šāØ
Being in the classroom right now while working toward my degree isnāt always easy⦠but my students? Theyāre my reason why.
Every bit of growth I get to witness
Thatās what keeps me going.
They donāt even realize it, but they push me to want more⦠to learn more⦠to become betterāfor them.
So when I say Iām working hard, itās not just for me.
Itās for every student Iāve been called to serve š

Stop measuring your child against someone elseās timeline.
Iāve seen it too many timesā¦
Parents getting discouraged because their child isnāt āwhere they should beā compared to a sibling, a classmate, or what the school says.
But hereās the truth nobody says out loud:
⨠Learning is NOT one-size-fits-all.
⨠Growth does NOT happen overnight.
⨠And comparison? It does more harm than good.
Your child doesnāt need pressure⦠they need patience.
They donāt need to be rushed⦠they need to be understood.
When you shift from comparison to support, everything changes.
Confidence builds. Effort increases. Growth follows.
Every child can learn.
They just need the right approach and the right time.
Save this as your reminder š
And share this with a parent who needs to hear it today.

POV: Summer isnāt a break from learning⦠itās your childās chance to catch up AND get ahead. š
A lot of parents wait until the next school year to realize their child was struggling⦠but the signs were already there.
Reading too slow.
Struggling to sound out words.
Reading⦠but not understanding.
This summer? Weāre not ignoring itāweāre addressing it. š”
Be intentional. Ask the right questions. Create the routine.
Because consistency over the summer = confidence in the classroom.
And if you donāt want to do it alone⦠thatās where I come in. š¤
Spots for summer sessions are now openāletās get your child reading with confidence and comprehension.
