We have two special tour dates open for the summer, and you're invited to join us to learn more about our school! Register on our website at counterpane.org/admissions to see what school could be like for your student 3 years old to college acceptance when it's reimagined through a fully-integrated arts program and by encouraging children and young adults to be curious, independent, and uniquely themselves.

Our Lower School students (ages 6-12) went on an overnight field trip last week to Nature's Classroom in Alabama. They hiked, rock climbed, learned wilderness skills, had archery lessons, made soap and candles, played team building games, and what camping trip is complete without s'mores? The children also had the chance to discover another important aspect to independence - an overnight experience without their family. They all did so well and had a blast!

A parent remembers her Counterpane tour:
"When my daughter was a second- or third-year, one of her teachers [from her old school] brought a floor loom into the classroom and gave the kids lessons. My daughter learned how to use it and then spent months weaving this gorgeous scarf. It felt incredible that she was able to make something that was both a piece of art and had utility, and that she was allowed to spend the time she needed to craft it. When I toured Counterpane for the first time, I was determined to impress. So I wore the scarf, waited for someone to compliment it, and then explained with pride that my daughter had made it at her last Montessori school. Then Karen took me to the Fine Arts room, where there were more kinds of looms than I can name and baskets of yarn and wool from floor to ceiling, and it was my turn to be impressed."

The Upper School Class is hosting a Marketplace event on Thursday, November 13th, where we'll be selling student-made products, baked goods, and hot drinks! Our doors will open at 7:45 am and the event will continue until 9:15 am.
All families (including non-immediate family members) are invited to attend!
The Marketplace is an event run by the Upper School students as part of their student business. The students will be able to take a card, cash, or check as payment. All profits from the Marketplace go back into the classroom to be used as the students see fit.
We hope to see you there!
