'Corpsman Up!' ⚓️ Today, June 17th, we are throwing a massive virtual birthday shoutout to the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps! 🎂🎉
Established in 1898, the Hospital Corps has spent 128 years providing formal medical training to enlisted Sailors who run toward danger to save lives. Did you know that the Navy and Marine Corps don’t have traditional medics? They have Corpsmen—often affectionately nicknamed 'Doc' by the very people they serve alongside.
They are the most highly decorated rate in the U.S. Navy. To put their heroism into perspective, during WWII alone, Corpsmen were awarded: 🌟 7 Medals of Honor 🌟 66 Navy Crosses 🌟 465 Silver Stars 🌟 982 Bronze Stars
From performing emergency battlefield first aid with the Marines to performing miraculous underwater appendix removals on submarines without a doctor present, 'Docs' have done it all. Today, these highly skilled medical professionals continue to use cutting-edge technology to protect our Sailors, Marines, and civilians worldwide.
Join us in celebrating our incredible HM team at Bluejacketeer and every Corpsman past and present!
💬 Corpsmen, sound off in the comments! Where did you serve, or who is the 'Doc' that always had your back? 👇
