Assistant Professor Annika Sheaff gave three lectures at Lakeside Chautauqua recently. Her lectures were titled: “The Secret Power of the Cakewalk: Dance as Resistance”, “Jazz Dance: Resistance through Movement”, and “The Dances of the Lakota and the Massacre of Wounded Knee”. Sharing her research with the community was joyful and powerful. Sheaff is always grateful for the opportunity to share ideas around dance!

Dr. Lindsay Puente (or Professora Borboleta, as she is known outside of campus) was invited to do a short tour of the southwest, teaching workshops in Capoeira Regional and Puxada de Rede, two Afro-Brazilian cultural dance expressions at various locations in El Paso, Texas and Denver Colorado in June, 2026.

The Pilates Teacher Trainees recently completed their May Intensive which consisted of 56 hours over 7 days learning new exercises, practice teaching, self-directed practice, observations, and private sessions! The week culminated with guests volunteers of recent alumnae, TCU staff, and friends of the program coming in so our students could practice what they have learned. Go Frogs! 👏🎉💪🤩

SCCDance faculty member, Kellye Saunders recently attended Dance Theatre of Harlem's spring season at New York City Center where they performed their signature ballet "Firebird". Ms. Saunders is a legacy Firebird and was honored on opening night at a special tribute performance!
