๐Ÿดโ˜€๏ธ Mustang Minute is back! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿด

This week, our Mustangs are practicing identifying medial sounds in words! ๐ŸŽ‰

The medial sound is the middle sound you hear in a word.

Try these examples together:
๐Ÿฑ cat โ†’ middle sound is /a/
๐Ÿท pig โ†’ middle sound is /i/
๐ŸšŒ bus โ†’ middle sound is /u/
๐ŸฆŠ fox โ†’ middle sound is /o/

You can practice anywhere by saying simple words and asking:
๐Ÿ‘‚ โ€œWhat sound do you hear in the middle?โ€

Medial sounds can be tricky, but practicing them helps children become stronger readers and spellers! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

Watch todayโ€™s Mustang Minute video and have fun listening for those middle sounds together!

๐Ÿดโ˜€๏ธ Itโ€™s time for another Mustang Minute! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿด

This week, our Mustangs are practicing deleting final syllables from words! ๐ŸŽ‰

This means saying a word, taking away the last syllable, and listening to what word is left.

Try these examples together:
๐ŸŽˆ rainbow without โ€œbowโ€ = rain
๐Ÿง cupcake without โ€œcakeโ€ = cup
๐Ÿž ladybug without โ€œbugโ€ = lady
๐ŸŒป sunflower without โ€œflowerโ€ = sun

You can practice during everyday activities by saying compound words and asking your child what remains when the last part is taken away. ๐Ÿก๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ›’

Playing with word parts helps children strengthen important reading and phonics skills! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

Be sure to watch todayโ€™s Mustang Minute video and practice deleting syllables together!
