Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and nurturing souls. 💚
For those who may be new here, my name is Eileen Tan, founder of 7 Notes. For the past 13 years, I’ve had the privilege of building a small and mighty school rooted in something deeper than music lessons.
At its heart, 7 Notes has always been about relationships, presence, and creating meaningful beginnings for children and their families. I truly believe children flourish when they feel seen, safe, encouraged, and gently guided. In many ways, I feel like a steward of their gifts… like a musical fairy godmother watching little sparks slowly come alive. ✨
But I also believe music education is a collaboration between class and home. It takes trust, patience, consistency, and presence from all of us.
The magic doesn’t only happen in the classroom. It happens in the quiet moments at home too.
You may notice the little “no cell phone” sign out parent and child classroom in the background of this photo.
In this digital age, I try to protect the energy of these spaces and encourage moments where children feel we are truly present with them.
At times, I don’t even record classes for social media because the second a phone comes out, children stop being fully present and start feeling like they need to perform. And those small authentic moments matter.
On this rainy Mother’s Day, I hope you allow yourself to slow down a little. Stay present with your family. Hold your children close. ✨
But also remember: while motherhood may be one of your roles, it is not the entirety of who you are. You are a whole, sovereign, beautiful human being long before becoming “Mom.” And that part of you still deserves nurturing too.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your children’s musical journey. It is something I never take lightly.
Presence, not presents✨

Happy World Penguin Day 💚
Fun fact: Penguins actually recognize each other by sound—each call is like a unique musical signature in a sea of voices.
Kind of like how every musician has their own tone.
Today, we celebrate the quiet rhythm of nature… and the music that’s already there if you listen closely.

I Started Teaching Again
For most of the past decade, my role at 7 Notes has been behind the scenes — mentoring teachers, building programs, and supporting the families who trust us with their children.
But this year, I felt a pull to return to my humble roots… teaching.
Teaching reminds me why I built 7 Notes in the first place.
Being back in the classroom with the kids, working closely with parents, and seeing those small musical breakthroughs again has been such a gift. ✨
There’s something very special about guiding a child through music — you’re not just teaching notes, you’re helping shape the formative years of their lives. .
If you really want to make a difference in someone’s life - work with children!
I don’t know how long I’ll be teaching these classes because it does require a lot of commitment and consistency alongside the other hats I wear. . But for now, I’m grateful to be a part of this.
I’m reminded that my life’s work — helping children grow through music — is one of the greatest gifts.

🌹 Happy International Women’s Day! 🌹
Thirteen years ago I opened the doors to 7 Notes with a BIG dream — to create a place where music wasn’t just lessons, but also a place for community.
But no one really tells you how much resilience it takes to build something.
What has kept 7 Notes alive all throughout the years is the relationships.
I know the families. I’ve watched the kids grow up. Some of them are taller than me now!
Music has a way of weaving people together, and that has been the greatest privilege of my life’s work.
Today I celebrate the women who build things from the ground up — the ones who nurture, lead, create, and hold communities together.
We are the co-creators of this world. ✨
And I’m grateful every day that I choose music and get to be a part of this.
If you’ve ever been part of the 7 Notes family, thank you for being part of this journey. 🎶

Mastery is invisible.
Before it looks easy,
it was practiced.
Before it feels natural,
it was repeated.
Progress is built in quiet rooms. 🎹
