This year’s Basic Skills Boot Camp prepared 22 interns moving into their first clinical anesthesia year for the fast-paced realities of the OR. Held during the first week of June, it brought clinical tools, resources, and hands-on training sessions to residents. Over five days, participants moved through a curriculum spanning CPR, ultrasound-guided needling skills, arterial lines, drug delivery, point-of-care training, Epic, and more.
The week closed with residents better equipped technically, clinically, and personally for the demands of paired period and their careers ahead.

Did you know that members from the UF Department of Anesthesiology have been attending the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists (FSA) Annual Meeting for decades? We found these photos of department members at FSA in 1975! Can you find Charlie Gibbs, M.D., who was an assistant professor with us at the time and Shirley Graves, M.D., who was an associate professor?
Good luck to all of our department members heading to FSA this weekend to present their research and lead workshops!

Please help us welcome Allison S. Haller, M.D., to the University of Florida (UF) Department of Anesthesiology. She joined us as an assistant professor in the Division of Multispecialty Anesthesiology.
Dr. Haller previously spent eight years as an assistant professor with our department. She earned her medical degree from the UF College of Medicine and completed her anesthesiology residency and regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine fellowship with us.
During her first professorship with us, she co-authored some publications on epidurals and abdominis plane blocks. She also took a special interest in mentoring and often played a key role in preparing residents for scientific meetings. In 2015, she was our faculty sponsor at the Gulf Atlantic Anesthesia Residents’ Research Conference.
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, and watching UF sports with friends and family.

This month 25 of our residents are graduating and moving on in their careers. One of these outstanding graduates is Kellen Creech, D.O.
Dr. Creech received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and served as one of our chief residents for the past academic year.
“Gainesville is an easy place to live during training: affordable, good quality of life, short commutes, and enough to do outside of work to keep balance. Overall, I think UF prepared me well and I would choose this program again without any hesitation.”
