The people who experience this care are the ones who define it. When families feel safe, supported, and respected, it changes how they engage and what becomes possible next.
That kind of trust is what everything else is built on.

When it is safe and appropriate, keeping babies and caregivers together can support bonding, comfort, and healing.
A familiar voice, gentle touch, and close connection can help a baby feel more secure. It also gives caregivers the chance to learn their baby’s cues, build confidence, and take an active role in care.
At Hushabye, we support babies and caregivers together because connection is part of healing.

Healing does not stop at discharge.
At 90 days, families connected to Hushabye are making meaningful progress in both their recovery and their ability to care for their child.
Decreased substance use. Increased parenting knowledge.
When support continues beyond the nursery, families are better equipped to move forward with stability and confidence.

Hushabye’s nursery was created specifically for babies experiencing withdrawal after substance exposure, but our care is designed for the whole family.
Our model looks different from a traditional hospital setting. Babies are cared for in a calm, low-stimulation environment where bonding, soothing, feeding, and parent involvement are central to healing.
Every baby is treated with compassionate, evidence-based care. Every parent is welcomed as part of the care team.
Because healing is not just clinical. It is connection, comfort, and care for both baby and family.

For some babies experiencing withdrawal, feeding can be hard work.
They may struggle with coordination, stamina, comfort, or settling enough to eat well. With patience, support, and the right care team, feeding becomes one more way to help babies grow stronger.
At Hushabye, we support each baby’s needs with compassion, one feeding and one small step at a time.

Many babies arrive at Hushabye already started on morphine.
But with a calm environment and individualized, supportive care, a significant number are able to begin weaning right at admission.
Early, specialized intervention changes the course of care from the very start.

Peer support is an important part of Hushabye’s model.
Our peer support team helps parents feel seen, encouraged, and less alone. They offer connection, hope, and practical support from a place of lived experience and compassion.
For many families, that relationship can make it easier to ask questions, keep appointments, stay engaged, and believe that change is possible.
At Hushabye, families are not defined by the hardest part of their story. They are supported as they build the next chapter.

“Substance exposed” means a baby was exposed to certain substances before birth. It does not define the baby, and it does not define the parent.
Some babies may need extra support after delivery, especially with feeding, sleeping, and being comforted. The right care can make a meaningful difference for both baby and caregiver.
At Hushabye, families are met with compassion, not judgment, so they can receive the support they need as early as possible.

In a traditional NICU setting, most babies experiencing withdrawal are treated with morphine.
At Hushabye, far fewer need medication.
A calm environment, low stimulation, and active parent involvement help babies regulate and heal with less reliance on medication.
