John Volken Academy - AZ

Every student who graduates from the John Volken Academy earns a custom belt buckle handed to them at their graduation ceremony. It represents the commitment, perseverance, and hard work required to complete the program and build a new foundation for life.

The buckle serves as a reminder of the challenges overcome, the lessons learned, and the growth achieved throughout the journey.

Through Boots to Buckles, your contributions help provide the work boots, Graduation Buckles, and the drive that supports students from the day they arrive to the day they graduate. Symbolizing both where the journey begins and what can be accomplished through dedication and perseverance.

With the month of May behind us, it means we were due for another advancement ceremony!

This time, we recognized Kannon, Alexis, Tyler, Jonathan, Thomas M, Robert, Thomas DG, and Michael H for taking the next step in their journeys. Each advancement represents countless small decisions made day after day, choosing growth over comfort, accountability over excuses, and progress over standing still.

This ceremony was especially meaningful as Robert, Thomas DG, and Michael H officially graduated from the two-year program. Reaching graduation is no small accomplishment. It reflects years of consistency, perseverance, and a commitment to building a new way of life.

For the men advancing and the men graduating, this moment serves as a reminder that growth never stops. As new opportunities arise, so do new responsibilities. Each step forward is a chance to lead, give back, and continue raising the standard for the men who will follow behind them.

Congratulations, gentlemen. Keep moving forward. 💪

Behind every milestone is a network of people who continue to encourage, believe in, and invest in the success of others. Our Family Support Group once again went above and beyond to make sure every birthday and important milestone in their recovery is celebrated.

Families of students come together to donate pizzas, cake, cookies, and their time and effort planning, so that every student has the opportunity to feel recognized and supported. What makes it especially meaningful is that these families are not just showing up for their own loved ones. They are showing up for all of the men in our community.

To all of the parents, spouses, siblings, relatives, and supporters who make these celebrations possible, thank you. Your generosity and commitment help create the sense of community that makes the John Volken Academy such a special place.

This July, we'll gather to celebrate the graduates who have committed themselves to lasting change and worked tirelessly to build a better future. We couldn't be more excited to recognize their accomplishments.

Our Freshman class had the opportunity to spend an evening at the Desert Botanical Garden. They stepped outside their normal routine to experience something new together (and take some sweet pictures!).

The night was filled with plenty of laughs, good conversations, and the chance to simply enjoy each other's company. For many of these students, finding value in experiences like this is something they may not have expected when they first arrived at the Academy.

This night was about learning how to enjoy life, building healthy relationships, and creating positive experiences with the people around you. Strengthening the bonds between one another reminds the guys that growth can be found in places they never thought to look.

There’s something special about spending a summer evening on the court with good food, good people, and a little friendly competition.

One of the best parts of these nights is getting to meet new members of the community while catching up with familiar faces. Whether you're competing for the championship or just hanging out on the sidelines, everyone has a place here.

Events like our monthly Burgers & Brackets are a great reminder of the values we work to practice every day. We get the opportunity to be active, build meaningful connections, and give back to the community that supports us so generously.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made the night what it was. We had a blast, and we're already looking forward to the next one!
