GCPAAA had an interesting speaker this month! Josiah Saladen. with Gilbert Fire and Rescue and Xanadu shared what they do to help Gilbert and surrounding communities. Xanadu is Arizona's only ATF-certified accelerant detection canine. She responds to fire scenes statewide, sniffing out microscopic traces of flammable liquids to help investigators determine if a fire was deliberately. They demonstrated her skill and she was spot on! Thank you!

The GCPAAA had the pleasure of hearing from Zachary Altman this evening, who shared insight into his role as Public Safety and Legal Advisor for the Town of Gilbert, supporting both Police and Fire Departments. It is safe to say, he keeps quite busy. Pictured on the right, 2nd Vice President Gary Hendrix expresses appreciation for an engaging and informative presentation.

Would you let your kid ride an electric motorcycle? Many parents don’t realize the difference between e‑bikes and e‑motorcycles before buying one.
When it comes to these popular rides, the difference is huge when it comes to safety and Arizona law.
If it goes over 30 mph, has a motor above 750 watts, or is not pedal-assisted, it’s likely an electric motorcycle under Arizona law. And that means:
🚨 Riders must be 16 or older with a valid motorcycle license
🚨 The vehicle must be registered through ADOT
🚨 It must be insured
🚨 Helmet laws apply to all riders under 18
Allowing a minor to ride an unregistered electric motorcycle can lead to fines or charges for the parent.
Don’t assume. Don’t guess.
Know your ride and make sure your child is riding legally and safely.
Update 6/10/26: New Ordinances are now in effect. For more information, please visit Gilbertaz.gov/KnowYourRide
