CORE WORD WEDNESDAY!
Even though there are thousands of words in a language, we use a small group of about 200 words most of the time. These are called “core words.” Using and modeling these words helps children who use AAC learn how to communicate. One helpful strategy is called aided language modeling. This just means you point to the words on a communication system while you say them out loud. Each Wednesday this summer, we’ll share new core words and activities to try.
