The Art of Inclusion Artist Highlights # 1
Ananda Rose of Sphincter Envy Arts, has always been an artist, delving into multiple mediums before she was a pr***en. After she suffered a bizarre brain stem stroke at the age of 11 that left her paralyzed
from the neck down she was no longer able to make physical works of art. Sphincter Envy Arts (SEA) is an art collective born out of necessity and kindness. As Founder and director of SEA, Ananda reached out to friends and the internet to see if someone could help her create the ideas she saw in her head, on canvas as well as with other mediums. The results were better than she imagined, and she wishes they had started a long time ago.
Ayshia Müezzin, also known as Meyzin, is a British-Cypriot intermedia artist born in 1986 in Glasgow, Scotland, where she also lives and works. Through a spontaneous, stream-of-consciousness process, her artwork explores the vivid intersections of her Turkish Cypriot heritage, Islamic faith, and neurodivergent mind. Utilizing electric colors, intricate geometries, and metallic accents inspired by traditional Islamic and Turkish illumination art, she creates densely layered compositions that pulse with continuous movement and rhythm.
Beth Cantrell, is a folk artist from High Point. As an ordained pastor, currently, she works for Our Brother Legion Ministries, a non-profit which works for belonging for people living with mental health issues, caregivers, Senior Adults, and (to a lesser extent) those with developmental disabilities. She is a person living with bipolar and wants more belonging for myself. She wants to create belonging for others. Folk art allows her to solve problems, find some joy, and serve as talking pieces when she does group discussions. Her “The Waters Recede” collection reflects the amazing diversity and strength of women, with or without known disabilities.

Meet Iyana Solivan
When Iyana first joined our volunteer team, she quickly became someone we could rely on for event support and administrative projects. Whether helping prepare for gallery openings, assisting with office tasks, or stepping in wherever an extra set of hands was needed, she consistently brought enthusiasm, professionalism, and a strong work ethic to everything she did.
Through her dedication and countless hours of service, Iyana earned a CVA Membership, a reflection of the impact she has made on our organization and the investment she has made in our community. Her involvement continued to grow, and today she serves as our Marketing Intern, helping share the stories of our artists, exhibitions, programs, and volunteers with the broader community.
Watching Iyana’s journey from volunteer to intern has been a wonderful reminder of how meaningful community involvement can lead to new opportunities. Her creativity, reliability, and passion for the arts continue to make a lasting impression on everyone who works with her.
We are incredibly grateful for all that Iyana brings to CVA and excited to see where her talents take her next. Thank you, Iyana, for being such an important part of our community.

This week’s Volunteer Spotlight shines on an individual whose strength, reliability, and willingness to help make a tremendous impact at CVA. Since Jackson Cashwell began volunteering with us, he has become a reliable member of our install team and someone always ready to assist us in our hardest work.
Jackson is always ready to jump in wherever he’s needed. Whether helping our team install exhibitions, carefully handling artwork, or tackling the physically demanding tasks that keep our gallery running smoothly, he approaches every challenge with a positive attitude and steady determination. His dependability and hard work behind the scenes help make so much of what we do possible.
Jackson Cashwell is an invaluable part of the CVA community, and we are incredibly grateful for the time, effort, and support he continues to give our gallery. His dedication helps us create welcoming spaces where art and community can thrive.
cashwell thank you!
And that’s a wrap on our 2025-2026 Art In The Afternoon ART Exhibit from our amazing students! Every afternoon, these kiddos come to create, play, and enjoy an afternoon of creativity and fun after school. Our AITA instructors, Micah, Jesse, and Joe are committed to guiding these creative students in various projects throughout the year introducing them to more than their day at school can provide! If your child thrives in the arts, we would love to talk with you about how your student could join us for afterschool programming.
We are currently enrolling for AITA, and we still have a few spots left in our SUMMER CAMP schedule!
CVA Is the place to be for any kid craving more ART!
