Good evening Kernodle Middle School Families,

While the district has worked diligently to minimize the effects on employees and school communities, some assistant principal positions could not be sustained under the current funding structure. Unfortunately, Kernodle Middle School was one of several schools impacted by these changes and Mrs. Orr will transition to a new assignment effective July 1. We recognize that schools rely heavily on strong leadership teams, and we understand the concerns about how this change may affect daily operations. Our staff will continue to work collaboratively with district support to ensure that students and families feel safe, seen, and heard during this transition. Thank you for your continued support of Kernodle Middle School.

2025-2026 End of Year Teacher and Staff Student Send Off. We are not a perfect school we strive for excellence. The number of hugs and tears that wrapped up today are the demonstration that we are doing something right. It's been a rocky journey for some. It's been a sweet spot for others. But one thing is for certain our commitment to being bold, brave, and brilliant with our 3c's of communication, collaboration, to build our community is a collective effort.

Thank you to our entire school community for doing hard things this year. The positive feedback from our students and families is appreciated.

We strive to make sure our community feels safe, seen, and heard.

KMS Strong! Our school community rocks! Happy Summer!

Good evening Kernodle Middle School families, this is your proud principal Mrs. Shephard calling with your final announcement for the 2025-2026:

Congratulations to all of our students for a great school year!

Your Feedback Matters: Continue, Stop, or Change! We invite our school community to share feedback from the 2025-2026 school year to be considered as we plan for 2026-2027. The feedback from last year helped us to create our school-wide calendar which will be released next school year and seeking out sponsors to support our school-wide goals. Thank you for sharing your ideas and concerns with us because we want to make each year better. The survey is open to students, teachers, parents, guardians and community partners. Survey link: http://tiny.cc/KMSCommunityFeedback . Please complete it by June 10, 2026.

Summer Reading Challenge and Programs: All students who read and record 600 minutes of reading will be eligible for a prize. Students should log their minutes in Beanstack. Students who cannot record their minutes over Summer Break can enter them in Beanstack when they return to school. To count toward the challenge, minutes will need to be dated during Summer Break. Check out the link below to view a variety of additional reading challenges and opportunities over the summer. https://reviewforeoc.my.canva.site/kernodle-middle-school-summer-reading-2026
