Every day, ECU students are building the skills, experiences, and connections that will shape their futures. Those opportunities don’t happen by accident, they’re made possible by Pirate Nation.
As the fiscal year comes to a close on June 30, there’s still time to make an impact. Your support helps provide scholarships, strengthen academic programs, expand research opportunities, and ensure students have the resources they need to succeed.
Join fellow Pirates in investing in the next generation before June 30. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4vhhDOi

What do Blackbeard, ECU history, and the future of Pirate Nation have in common?
They were all part of the conversation at the recent ECU Seaside Soirée in Morehead City.
Guests gathered at Floyds 1921 Restaurant and Catering for an evening of fellowship, coastal hospitality, and engaging discussions about the people and experiences that have shaped East Carolina University. Attendees heard from ECU leaders and special guests, including anthropology professor Charlie Ewen, who shared stories from North Carolina coastal archaeology and Blackbeard research, and Jack Jenkins, who reflected on the lasting legacy of Chancellor Leo W. Jenkins and the impact ECU continues to have on generations of Pirates.
Most importantly, the evening celebrated the alumni and friends whose generosity helps create opportunities for students today and for years to come.
Were you there? Share your favorite moment or memory from the evening in the comments.

ECU College of Business students recently had the opportunity to experience global business firsthand in Germany, moving from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange to BMW Welt and engaging with international industry leaders along the way.
The experience connected classroom learning to real-world practice across Frankfurt and Munich, giving students a broader view of how global business takes shape.
We’re deeply grateful to the ECU alumni and donors whose support makes opportunities like this possible.

Before “Scream.” Before “Dawson’s Creek.” Before Hollywood.
There was a theater student at ECU trying to figure out where he belonged.
During a recent return to campus, ECU alumnus Kevin Williamson reflected on the professors, mentors and hands-on experiences that helped shape his confidence as a storyteller and creator.
From building sets and working backstage in McGinnis Theatre to finding encouragement from faculty who believed in him, Williamson said ECU helped change the course of his life.
“When it’s a small department, you get really hands-on extensive experience,” he said. “You get to know the professors, you get to know the teachers and you have relationships with these people.”
Stories like this are reminders that mentorship, experiential learning and supportive communities can have a lasting impact far beyond graduation day.

From classroom discussions to cultural excursions across Madrid and beyond, ECU students participating in study abroad are experiencing firsthand the power of immersive global education. 🇪🇸
During a recent visit to Spain, University Advancement had the opportunity to document students as they explored historic and cultural landmarks including Alcalá de Henares, birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra — the Royal Palace, the Corral de Comedias, museums, historic neighborhoods, and live Flamenco performances while continuing their academic studies abroad.
Experiences like these help students deepen their understanding of language, culture, history, and global perspectives in ways that simply can’t be replicated in a traditional classroom setting.
We’re grateful for the faculty, staff, supporters, and partners who help create transformational opportunities like these for ECU student
