🌟 A Week Full of Discovery, Exploration, and Fun at Adventures! 🌟

Last week was packed with exciting learning experiences both at the center and out in our community!

🫧 Our children became little scientists as they explored STEM concepts through bubble investigations right here at Adventures. They experimented with bubbles of different sizes, observed how they moved, and practiced making predictions while having tons of fun.

🌳 Our Pre-K friends enjoyed a field trip to Independence Park, where they explored, played, and strengthened their social and gross motor skills in a new environment.

🏙️ Our Preschoolers had a fantastic time visiting Kid City at the Greenwood Community Center, using their imaginations, collaborating with friends, and learning through hands-on play.

🎨 Throughout the week, our classrooms were also busy with creative art experiences, sensory exploration, outdoor learning, and collaborative projects that encouraged curiosity and problem-solving.

At Adventures, every experience is an opportunity to learn, grow, and discover. We are so proud of our children for embracing new challenges, asking questions, and making the most of every adventure!

💙 BEHAVIOR IS COMMUNICATION 💙

At Adventures Child Care & Learning Center, we believe that every behavior tells a story.

When a child is hitting, crying, refusing directions, or having a meltdown, it can be easy to focus on the behavior itself. But through the work of Dr. Becky Bailey and Conscious Discipline, we learn to look a little deeper.

Instead of asking:

❓ "How do I make this behavior stop?"

We ask:

❓ "What is this child trying to communicate?"

A child who is hitting may be feeling frustrated.

A child who is crying may be feeling overwhelmed or disappointed.

A child who is refusing may be seeking connection, control, or support.

Children are still learning how to identify and express their feelings. Often, their behavior communicates what their words cannot yet say.

When we understand the message behind the behavior, we can respond with empathy, connection, and guidance rather than frustration.

One of our favorite Conscious Discipline reminders is:

❤️ Connection comes before correction.

This week, when your child is struggling, pause and ask yourself:

"What might my child be trying to tell me right now?"

You may be surprised by what you discover.

👶 INFANT PROGRAM

Led by Ms. Amanda, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and has been part of the Adventures family since June 2022.

A Day in the Life:
• Warm morning greetings and cuddles
• Individualized feeding and care routines
• Tummy time and sensory exploration
• Songs, stories, and language-rich interactions
• Fine and gross motor skill development through play
• Plenty of snuggles, smiles, and responsive care throughout the day

🚶 TODDLER PROGRAM

Led by Ms. Sam, who holds an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education and has been with Adventures since May 2016.

A Day in the Life:
• Morning choice centers and exploration
• Circle time with songs, stories, and movement
• Hands-on sensory experiences
• Outdoor play and gross motor development
• Language-building conversations and social learning
• Opportunities to practice independence throughout the day

🎨 TWOS PROGRAM

Led by Ms. Sarah, who is currently working toward her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Ms. Sarah was part of the Adventures family for five years before taking a brief break and returning to Adventures in March 2026. We were thrilled to welcome her back to our team!

A Day in the Life:
• Creative art and sensory projects
• Early literacy experiences through books and storytelling
• Music, movement, and dramatic play
• Outdoor adventures and active play
• Learning routines, self-help skills, and classroom responsibilities
• Building friendships and confidence through guided social experiences

🌳 Community Help Needed! 🌳

Adventures Child Care & Learning Center is working to add more nature-based play opportunities to our playground, and we're looking for tree stumps of various heights and sizes that children can use as seating, gathering spaces, work surfaces, and imaginative play elements.

If you have any stumps available from a recent tree removal or know someone who does, we would love to give them a second life on our playground! We are hoping to find donations if possible.
