What Is State of Flow? When Excellence Becomes Natural 🌊

Anjali Dubey explores what it means to achieve true flow:
State of flow means focus, purpose, and performance are all aligned. It's a consistent flow of results — and the results are natural. You're just doing it.

It's sustained performance where results aren't fluctuating. They're natural and authentic, maintained within healthy margins.

Anjali shares an example from the CEO of a gaming company. When he wanted to bring higher productivity into his organization, he focused on maintaining interruptions and consistently bringing the flow state into his organization.

He believed: "If management can create an environment where employees love the experience and feel fulfilled in their jobs, the performance follows on its own."

As research suggests: when you live in a freedom state, losing your grip in daily practices and work practices, removing obstructions, setting goals, setting boundaries — then you'll see that work takes its course on its own.

Flow isn't forced. It's created.

Nikhil Rughani introduces WOOP — a goal-setting method that's surged in popularity, going from not even existing on the top 10 to becoming the number three most used method of goal setting.

WOOP = Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, Plan

WOOP was created by Her Royal Highness Princess Doctor Gabriele Oettingen out of Germany.

"If you're going to set goals, you got to set goals like a princess. And this is a real-life princess who invented this system."

(Fun fact: Princesses in Germany actually need to get a job and work — they don't get given royal stipends. So she became a doctor of psychology.)

Here's how WOOP works:
1. Wish and Outcome are intrinsically tied. They become like an anchor system.
State what you wish
How does the outcome make you feel? (Three emotional words)

In NLP terms, this is a resource anchor. Here's what I want. Here's what I want to feel.

2. Obstacle and Plan — and this is the real genius. Plan for the obstacle. She has you identify the obstacle, then create the plan to overcome it.
Why is this genius?

No other goal-setting methodology takes into account the fact that you're going to hit an obstacle.

WOOP does.

Neural Pattern Recognition and Intuition — The Neuroscience Foundation 🧠💡

Nikhil Rughani explains what happens in flow state:
You trigger neural pattern recognition and interoception (remember — that's internal kinesthetic).

Neural pattern recognition is where you recognize patterns. That's the neuroscience foundation for intuition and the speed to decision.

A lot of science will kind of poo-poo intuition, but neuroscience actually embraces it.

In fact, the prefrontal cortex — that part of our brain at the very front responsible for executive function — one of its main functions is actually intuition.

So neuroscience recognizes intuition.
"I'm not talking about waving crystals and incense. It's a very grounded sense of intuition, which has interoception — you get a kinesthetic, an internal kinesthetic."

For those NLP-trained: Remember the NLP model of the structure of intuition? Chunk up, go across to find other dots and things that could be related, chunk back down, apply what you found. It's almost like lateral thinking at a high chunk level.

Why intuition?

When Nikhil teaches his clients Executive Intuition, it's about using tools and focus to actually get into flow and tap into their intuition.

Why? Because that's really important for high performers.

The Integration of Consciousness and Unconsciousness in Flow 🧠✨

Nikhil Rughani talks about the work he's absolutely obsessed with: Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, who wrote Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Performance.

When Nikhil first came across it 16 years ago during his NLP practitioner training, he was blown away. Remember the model of communication — the brain is exposed to 13 million bits of information per second? He wondered: how does someone calculate that? That's the work of Mihaly.

Mihaly also spoke about flow state.

The Greeks described it with a term called ecstasis, which means ecstasy. It's where the conscious mind and unconscious mind actually integrate.

In flow, here's what happens:
✅ Complete focus — total concentration on the task at hand
✅ Action and awareness merge — your thinking and doing happen almost simultaneously. Not think, think, think, then do. It's thought-action, thought-action, thought-action.
✅ Time distortion — "time flies when you're having fun." When you're engaged in flow states, hours go like seconds.

That's integration. That's flow.

Which Flow Profile Are You? 🌊

Nikhil Rughani breaks down the four types:
1. The Deep Thinker Journals. Silent retreats. Immersed in their work. Classic introvert energy.

2. The Hard Charger Ultramarathons. Running up hills with rocks in a backpack. Martial arts. Sweat lodges. Thrives on physical challenge.

3. The Flow Goer Meditation. Yoga. Sound therapy. Ecstatic dance. This is what you picture when you think "flow."

4. The Crowd Pleaser Burning Man. Coachella. Crowd surfing. Thrives on group flow. Total extrovert.

Which one are you?

"Coaching Is Not for the Weak. Coaching Is for the Smart." 💡

Arslan Larik drops truth:
Some people — because of being in their own space, in that masculine energy (and masculine has nothing to do with gender, it's just a form of energy) — they have more responsibilities. It's not like women don't have them. But sometimes they forget the cushion of emotional intelligence.

So make sure you run those ads. Specifically find that target audience. Experiment.
Maybe focus somewhere and reiterate that dynamic. Go for Gen Z, see how that turns out. Go for somebody in mid-tier, see how that works out.

It's fabulous how things can actually unfold.

Arslan shares a beautiful story:
"I never thought I was going to coach. I was in Thailand. There's a master trainer Candace is very much aware of — one of the diligent ones: Sebastien Leblond."

Seb is a master trainer and advocate of ABNLP, doing fine work in Thailand. He's one of the biggest rock stars over there, along with Luke Salway.

Working with Seb, Arslan noticed something beautiful: how to work with teenagers.
(Story continues — the point being: sometimes your niche finds you through the network you engage with.)

Your Network Is Your Net Worth — But Are You Leveraging It? 🌐

Arslan Larik addresses a common challenge:
Community work is great. You should do that. Yet in order to sustain that community work, we also need to see about advancement — bringing in revenues which can help us do even far more greater impact-based work.

So when you're in new territory, what do you do?

Here's the critical aspect: we sometimes may never have leveraged our network.

The equation: Your network = Your net worth.

The real question is: how do I liberate and really indulge in that network to support and solidify me?

Start with your local hub. Your local community could be a very great place to start from.

Now, here's a common mistake most people make when they graduate:
We kind of go for the niche right away. We go for specializations immediately.

"I'm a business coach." "I'm a life coach." We go into sub-branches quite instinctively.

That's great — but if you're a master trainer, you would understand that it took us time to really understand what our real customer base was.

Don't rush the niche before you understand the network.
