Henderson International School

My name is Mary Steffanich and I am excited to join Henderson International's first grade team this year! I grew up in Michigan and attended The University of Michigan before moving to the west coast to start my teaching career. I earned my master's degree in educational administration from the University of California Riverside and completed my National Board Teaching Certification. I have taught Kindergarten through third grade, but first is my favorite! I have three sons, a beautiful daughter in law, and a cute puppy named Pepper.

I love the beach, tacos, coffee, and my favorite color is red. I enjoy being outdoors, shopping, reading, baking, sports, and getting together with friends and family.

I look forward to a wonderful year!

Hello Henderson International School community!

I am honored to join HIS as the new Director of Secondary Education and Family Engagement. As a graduate of the University of Virginia, I bring more than 20 years of experience in education, with most of my career dedicated to supporting middle school students and their families.

Throughout my career, the relationships I've built with students and families have been the most meaningful part of my work. One of the things that drew me to Henderson International School is its strong commitment to education and the value this community places on learning, growth, and student success.

I am excited to become part of the Henderson International School family and look forward to getting to know each of you in the months ahead.

This special tradition brings together our youngest learners and our graduating middle school students in a powerful moment of connection, where our departing 8th graders pass along gifts, school spirit, and a sense of community to the Kindergarteners as they continue their journey here at Henderson International School.
