A historic milestone begins.

Yesterday, Sacred Hearts Academy proudly hosted the official press conference launching the Catholic Hawaii Bicentennial 2026–2027, a year-long celebration commemorating 200 years of Catholicism in Hawaiʻi.

The event highlighted the enduring impact of Catholic parishes, schools, healthcare ministries, and social service organizations that have strengthened communities across our islands for generations. Inspiring remarks were shared by Bishop Larry Silva, Father Lane Akiona, Deacon Mike Browning, and Sacred Hearts Academy President Dr. Brandy Ann Sato ’94, who reflected on the legacy of faith, service, education, and hope that continues to shape Hawaiʻi.

The Bicentennial theme, “Honor • Celebrate • Inspire,” invites all to honor the past, celebrate the vibrant Church of today, and inspire future generations to carry forward a mission rooted in faith, compassion, and service. The year-long observance (July 2026–July 2027) will feature Masses, cultural celebrations, educational events, community gatherings, and opportunities for prayer and service throughout the islands.

As we mark 200 years since the arrival of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary to Hawaiʻi, we give thanks for the many individuals and ministries that have served our communities through faith, education, healthcare, and social justice, and we look forward with hope to the next chapter of Catholic life in Hawaiʻi.

Our aspiring sewers are ready to create as they explore the art of sewing with instructor and Academy alumna, Mrs. Leilani Asuncion-Tagupa, '91. Surrounded by a colorful selection of fabrics, students are developing valuable sewing skills while bringing their unique ideas to life through hands-on projects.

Summer learning is in full swing! ☀️🔬🌱

Students in 's class with Ms. Agnes Brown explored the science behind lava lamps by combining Alka-Seltzer and oil, discovering the exciting reactions between liquids and gases. Meanwhile, our Eco-Art Creations students nurtured their growing plants, learning the importance of care, patience, and responsibility as they observed nature up close.

Contact the Academy's Admission Team to schedule an appointment to tour the ELC campus and learn more about how Sacred Hearts Academy develops our girls young minds through discovery, questioning, making connections and reflection.
