Congratulations to all of our club members for making it to the end of a challenging academic school year!

As always, we Chamorus rise to the occasion and even graduate during a global pandemic. Congratulations to Arisa Barcinas for completing her BA in Environmental Science (Fall 2020) and Kacey Bejado for receiving her BA in Pacific Islands Studies with a minor in Anthropology (Spring 2021). We can't wait to hear what you accomplish next!

Big congrats to LeeAna Acfalle for finishing her masters in Political Science (Spring 2020) and continuing on in the program as a PhD student. Your surprise graduation celebration over Zoom was a memorable one! We look forward to celebrating your doctorate in person in the next couple of years.

Finally bula cheers to Dr. Jesi Lujan Bennett for completing her PhD in American Studies and Museum Studies (Spring 2021). Her research discusses the migration of Chamorus to the U.S. and the ways these diasporic communities articulate their Indigeneity in new geographic and cultural contexts. Jesi was hired last year as a professor by Te Pua Wānanga ki te Ao, the Department of Maori, Pacific, and Indigenous Studies at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, Aotearoa/New Zealand.

The Marianas Club wishes these famalao'an the very best as emerging leaders, thinkers, and creators. Biba Chamoru excellence! ✊🏾
