Happy 112th Birthday to Harriet Bouslog, the founder of the Harriet Bouslog Labor Scholarship Fund. This magnificent childless cat lady defended the imprisoned sugar and pineapple workers in Hawaii in 1948 and was ILWU 142 first general counsel in Hawaii. Later she would be instrumental in ending capital punishment in Hawaii and defending freedom of speech. I wish we could hear her thoughts on the current election but knowing what she thought of fascists such as Hi**er, Mussolini, Franco and Trump, she would be urging everyone stop Trump now before he outlaws all unions and returns workers to the $.75 an hour wages.
So let’s all celebrate this childless cat lady and all of her accomplishments. And to all graduates of the University of Hawaii who received Harriet Bouslog Scholaships let’s hear a hearty MAHALO for Harriet.
