At a busy office, a 55-year-old man suddenly collapses near his desk. A coworker checks on him and finds he is unresponsive and not breathing normally—only occasional gasping sounds. The coworker immediately calls out for help. Another employee dials 911 while someone else rushes to bring the office’s AED. The first responder begins chest compressions, pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest at about 100–120 compressions per minute. When the AED arrives, they power it on, place the pads on the man’s chest, and follow the voice prompts. The device advises a shock, which they deliver before resuming CPR. They continue cycles of 30 compressions and 2 breaths, switching rescuers when tired, until paramedics arrive to take over.
