Lessons, sectionals, David Chan's violin masterclass, and performances by the Formosa Quartet, TMF faculty, and fellows have made for another memorable week at the Texas Music Festival.

June 11 — The internationally celebrated Formosa Quartet, winners of the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, continues its Texas Music Festival residency with a program featuring Wynton Marsalis’ "At the Octoroon Balls," inspired by Creole dance traditions, alongside a specially curated Formosa Quartet set titled "Blueish Groove."

Congratulations to all of the winners of the 2026 Mitchell-Hogg Competition!

We are thrilled to announce that bassoonist Graydon Harrison has been awarded First Prize in this year's competition, proudly co-organized by the Texas Music Festival and the Houston Symphony.

As part of his grand prize, Graydon will take the stage with our Festival Orchestra on June 27 for the season finale. Additionally, he will be featured as a soloist in one of the Houston Symphony's performances during the 2026–2027 season.
