Most people never saw this side of my years in the classroom.

One day, one of my fifth-grade students was outside — crying for ten minutes, overwhelmed, unable to hold it together. My coworker knocked on my door and let me know he was still out there.

So I went outside, sat down right beside him on those steps, and we just talked.

We talked about what happened. About his choices. About consequences. Not with anger — with calm. With presence.

My coworker took this photo without me knowing. When I saw it, I understood why she did.

If we want stronger schools in HD127, we have to invest in the whole child — emotionally, academically, and socially. That starts with electing leaders who have actually been in the room.

I have been in that room. I have sat on those steps.

That experience was exactly why I entered this race. 💙
