Before you accept it, here’s what you should know:
You have the right to protest your property taxes every single year
If you don’t, there’s a strong chance you’re overpaying
Start here:
• Compare your value to similar homes nearby
• Review your property record for errors (square footage, upgrades, etc.)
• Document anything that impacts value (age, condition, needed repairs)
Then decide your approach:
• File the protest yourself
• Hire a company (most only get paid if they reduce your taxes)
And don’t sleep on this:
If this is your primary residence, make sure you have your homestead exemption in place
