A father with five kids in the car had seconds to decide. He decided.

On May 3 in Garland, Texas, a man went vehicle to vehicle pulling on door handles, then went after a driver who'd just stepped out with five children still in his car. The father fought him off and stopped the attack with one legally carried firearm. None of the kids were hurt. No bystanders were hurt. (NBC DFW)

He wasn't looking for a fight. He was looking after his family.

In 2020, women were just under half of America's first-time gun buyers. By 2024, they were the clear majority.

Per the NSSF's 2024 retailer survey, women made up 70.5% of first-time buyers — up from 47.1% in 2020. Roughly 26 million Americans bought their first firearm between 2020 and 2024.
