The ultimate snack protector

A father with five kids in the car had seconds to decide. He decided.

On May 3 in Garland, Texas, a man went vehicle to vehicle pulling on door handles, then went after a driver who'd just stepped out with five children still in his car. The father fought him off and stopped the attack with one legally carried firearm. None of the kids were hurt. No bystanders were hurt. (NBC DFW)

He wasn't looking for a fight. He was looking after his family.

What would you want with you in that parking lot? ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

In 2020, women were just under half of America's first-time gun buyers. By 2024, they were the clear majority.

Per the NSSF's 2024 retailer survey, women made up 70.5% of first-time buyers โ€” up from 47.1% in 2020. Roughly 26 million Americans bought their first firearm between 2020 and 2024.

The face of the American gun owner is changing. She's a mom. A nurse. A neighbor.

What was your reason for becoming an owner? ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Somewhere out there, a criminal is stopping to read the sign first. Any minute now.

Gun-free zones work on exactly one kind of person: the kind who was already going to follow the law.

The other kind doesn't slow down to read.

Which matters more to you โ€” how a policy feels, or whether it works?

Two hundred and thirty-eight years ago, James Madison already knew what set this country apart.

"โ€ฆthe advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nationโ€ฆ" โ€” James Madison, Federalist No. 46, 1788.

He wasn't writing a slogan. He was describing a structural check โ€” a free people who never have to simply hope their government stays good.

We've been making this point since 1788. What do you think Madison would make of the argument today?

Uncle Cal had a visitor.

The "you're being paranoid" line gets thrown at every first-time gun owner โ€” and especially at women learning to protect themselves. Cal's seatbelt analogy might be the most honest answer we've heard to that question.

Who in your life would benefit from this conversation? Tag them. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Uncle Cal makes a quiet point.

Every restriction these days arrives wearing the label "common sense." Funny how the label always comes attached to someone else deciding what counts.

What's common sense to you about the right to bear arms? ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Uncle Cal raises a fair question.

When the people writing the laws are walked into work by an armed detail, it's worth asking why the rest of us are told to make do with a phone call. The principle doesn't change based on who's standing next to you.

Which matters more โ€” the principle, or the privilege? ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Uncle Cal said the quiet part out loud. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

They swear registration isn't confiscation โ€” but every confiscation in history started with a list.

Agree or nah? ๐Ÿ‘‡
