Today is the first day of our summer session at HCA! Our students participate in project based learning every year during this time. This year our grammar school students are working on answering questions such as “How is Earth uniquely fitted to support life?”, “How do bees help our world?” and “How can you show that an animal’s skeleton is related to how the animal moves?”.

Our logic and rhetoric school students are working on “Aqueducts: Engineering Wonders of the Ancient World” and “Streets to Stories: Rebuilding our Community.”

We are looking forward to this year’s presentations!

Our students sing the Hymn of the Quarter every morning and this quarter it is “What a Friend we Have in Jesus”. What a wonderful reminder to give all our burdens to Jesus, the greatest friend of all.

“What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!”

Creative Expressions is a wonderful celebration that families and students look forward to all year. It is a showcase of the creativity, learning, and accomplishments of our students. The evening began with an art walk featuring student artwork throughout our campus and ended with each class presenting special performances, giving our students the opportunity to share what they have learned this year in a meaningful way.
Our ninth graders were recognized and encouraged with a word from Ms. Reyna and Beverly Smith said a blessing for Mr. Bryant with the help of the student body.
The evening was a joyful celebration of growth, hard work, and God-given talents. We are thankful for the support of our families and our students who made this event one to remember!

We held a special ceremony honoring our 8th grade students for the character and virtues they have demonstrated throughout the school year. Each student receives a personalized certificate recognizing the unique qualities their teachers have seen in them, such as hope, faith, and temperance.

At HCA we celebrate not only academic growth, but also the Christ-centered character that our students continue to develop. We look forward to seeing how each student continues to grow and use their God-given gifts in the years ahead.

Our student body all participated in a special presentation in which they recited the book of Ephesians from memory. Beginning in 1st grade, students work diligently with their classmates to memorize Ephesians 1 and continue on to finish with Ephesians 6 in 6th grade.

Our Ephesians Chapel is a wonderful reflection of their dedication and commitment to hiding God’s Word in their hearts. Families and staff were all encouraged as students boldly proclaimed Scripture and demonstrated a lasting impact of daily Bible memorization.

We are grateful for the teachers who faithfully guide and encourage students in this important spiritual discipline and proud of the students for their perseverance.

At HCA, students memorize various works of poetry throughout the year. Poetry memorization helps to develop a rich vocabulary, master language patterns, and sharpen their reading comprehension.
This year our second graders are memorizing “The Fly" by Walter De La Mare.

“How large unto the tiny fly
Must little things appear!-
A rosebud like a feather bed,
Its prickle like a spear;

A dewdrop like a looking-glass,
A hair like golden wire;
The smallest grain of mustard-see
As fierce as coals of fire;

A loaf of bread, a lofty hill;
A wasp, a cruel leopard;
And specks of sale as bright to see
As lambkins to a shepherd.”

Our youngest students visited Tuttle Neighborhood Library after exploring the nearby park and were excited to see artwork from their classmates and friends across grades on display!
