What happens when you trade a glass ceiling for a new calling? 🦅

When Jamelah Thomas enrolled in the Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program at UHCL, she wanted a path with deeper purpose. Her journey was paved with personal transitions and the challenge of navigating a new industry, but she found exactly the support she needed to succeed.

Thanks to UHCL’s direct ties to the Texas Medical Center and mentors who challenged her to lead, Jamelah transformed her confidence. By tackling national case competitions and engaging in hands-on learning, she landed a full-time role at Houston Methodist well before crossing the commencement stage.

At UHCL’s Military-Connected End-of-Year Celebration Dinner, students were honored for the impact they continue to make through leadership, academics, and military service.

This year’s Military-Connected Student of the Year, Ronald Ndawula, balances service in the U.S. Army Reserve while pursuing cybersecurity and building a career in information security. His story is one of resilience, focus, and purpose. 🦅

UHCL remains committed to empowering military-connected Hawks. 🇺🇸🦅 As the nation prepares to honor military service this weekend, the university is expanding academic pathways for veterans through a newly awarded grant.

By streamlining credit evaluations, this initiative formally recognizes the value of prior training. The program allows veterans to apply their experience toward college credit, accelerating degree completion.
