The University of Houston continues to build momentum as one of the nation’s leading public research universities, with a trio of new global rankings highlighting the University’s growing influence in research, innovation and academic excellence.

In the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings, UH ranked No. 52 among public research universities nationwide and No. 91 among all U.S. institutions. The Center for World University Rankings also placed UH No. 45 among public research institutions in the nation and among the top 1.3% of more than 21,000 universities worldwide.

Together with UH's recent rise in the QS World University Rankings — where the University climbed six spots to its highest ranking in a decade and ranked fourth among Texas universities, trailing only University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University and Rice University — these recognitions underscore the University's expanding impact on the global stage.

Triplets Chiamaka, Somto and Anita Anigbogu graduated from UH together after four years of growing independently while leaning on an unshakable bond.

Each sibling followed their own path: Chiamaka earned a degree in economics, Somto earned a degree in management information systems and Anita earned a degree in computer information systems.

As their journeys continue in new directions, one thing stays the same: they’ll always have each other.

Engaged to be married and graduating from law school together, Emma Jenny and Tanner Shae are closing one UH chapter and beginning another.

What began as a chance encounter near the law library printers during their first year quickly became something much bigger. “I coined a term in my first semester called ‘LSC’ — law school crush — and when I found out I was Emma’s LSC too, the rest, as they say, was history,” Shae said.

Three years, two law degrees and one engagement later, they’re preparing for the Texas bar exam, new legal careers and a Hawaiian ranch wedding next summer.

Congratulations, Emma and Tanner! 🎓❤️

Desiree Davis once toured the world with Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Usher. Now, she’s bringing that same stage-tested discipline to the science classroom.

After two decades as a professional dancer, the native Houstonian returned to college to pursue a new calling: teaching middle school science.

Now cancer-free after battling breast cancer twice while completing coursework and teaching in a residency position, Davis has graduated summa cm laude from UH and is beginning her next chapter as a sixth-grade science teacher in CFISD.

Congratulations, Desiree! 🎓🤩
