🤠 Happy Father’s Day, Houston! 🤠
Whether you’re visiting H-Town from across the globe 🌍 or you’re a born-and-raised native who has lived here your entire life 🚀, we want to wish a very Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, stepdads, grandpas, and father figures making a difference in our community today!
Houston has always been a city that welcomes the world with open arms. To celebrate today, we’re throwing it back to the ultimate "founding father" of our great city: General Sam Houston. Check out this fascinating look back at his legendary legacy.
📖 History Spotlight: The Father of Houston
"Sam Houston was one of the most illustrious political figures of Texas... serving as commander-in-chief of troops during the Texas Revolution and leading them to a decisive victory at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836. Following his victory, he was elected as the first president of the independent Republic of Texas. A true founding father to the people of Texas, his leadership, courage, and vision quite literally put the city of Houston on the map, forever tying his name to the booming global metropolis we call home today."
Today, we honor the legacy of leadership, strength, and community—both from our history books and right in our own living rooms. Enjoy the beautiful day, stay cool, and have a fantastic Father's Day, Houston!
