What a year. Wishing the Class of 2026 all the best - can’t wait to see what you build next.

In 2023, Hopewell earned a grant from the CMS Foundation. Today, we have licensed pilots.
Hopewell is proud to celebrate our first full class of FAA Part 107 Certified Remote Pilots - Tanner Smith, Zelus Brown, Patrick Harrington, Jaden Kenly, and Jonathan Maye.
A special congratulations to Mr. William Johnson, who earned his Remote Pilot Certificate right alongside his students, leading by example!
None of this happens without the support of the CMS Foundation and a special thank you to Mr. Brookshire, whose belief in this program helped make the Hopewell Drone pathway a reality. We wish the best to him in his next chapter. To our remote pilots - the airspace is yours!

The projects at our Hopewell’s Capstone Showcase were amazing but the alumni panel was just as impactful.

Over 100 Hopewell engineering and manufacturing students heard directly from alumni about their journey as they are now attending North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, UNC Charlotte College of Engineering, and North Carolina State University.

What stood out to me most was realizing how much these former students helped build the foundation and culture of Hopewell’s program. Even after their own finals, work, and busy schedules, they still came back to invest in the next generation. Continuously raising the bar.

Beyond thankful to Neto Barnabas, Kayla Pham, Rachel Heggie, Natalie Morales, James Karwowski-Mulready, Kamsochukwu Barnabas, Lauryn Bess for coming back and continuing to pour into the students following behind you.

The industry is lucky to have people like you in it!

Yesterday, more than 500 students, alongside 50 industry and community members, experienced what’s possible when young people are given the tools, time, and trust to create during Hopewell’s Capstone Showcase. Students presented innovative projects while connecting with industry professionals, alumni, and community leaders through real-world engineering and manufacturing experiences.

To every student who participated: your creativity, dedication, and confidence to present your work represent the future of engineering and manufacturing. Proud doesn’t fully capture it.

Top project recognitions:
• Industry Selection — Hydroponic Vertical Grow Tower by Gabby Studer
• Hopewell Selection — Computer Transmitter & Ender 2D Printer by Zach Hoblet
• Alumni Selection — Weight Lifting Hangers by Nile Hall

Thank you to all volunteers and our incredible industry partners for continuing to invest in our students through your time, expertise, and support: Society of Engineering and Manufacturing, CMS Foundation, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Burkert USA Corp, Make An Impact Foundation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools CTE, Carolina Panthers, Trane Technologies, Duke Energy, SC Johnson, and Volta Insite.

BACK TO BACK Champions.
Hopewell’s ACE team won the 2026 ACE Cup for best overall design at the ACE Charlotte Banquet. Join us in congratulating every student who made this happen.
A special callout to our presenters Deuel Rice ’26, Evan Jenkins ’27, Nick Walck ’27, and Aiden Bal ’26 - and to Matthew Pharr ’26 for Q&A support.
To lead mentors Enya and Darik Schumacher - 15 years of supporting Hopewell students. This win is a direct reflection of everything you have poured into this program. Thank you.

3rd and 4th period PLTW IED students presented their automata projects last week to representatives from SME.

Proud of the creativity, problem-solving, and persistence these students showed throughout the entire design process. From initial concepts to fully functioning builds, they did an outstanding job representing Hopewell Engineering and Manufacturing.

Huge thank you to our guests for taking the time to interact with students and provide feedback on their work.

Now the hard part… comment your favorite automata project below 👇

What’s better than a Ticonderoga pencil? One with Hopewell Engineering & Manufacturing on it - held by the students who put it there! Sharp pencils, sharper students. We love Ticonderoga because great tools inspire great professionals!

Why just learn about manufacturing when you can put these skills to use.

175 custom magnets. Brainstormed, iterated, and delivered by my students to every staff member at Hopewell High School.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, my students did not just complete an assignment. They ran a full production cycle for people who show up for them every single day.

To the staff of Hopewell High School -your work does not go unnoticed. Our students made sure of it.
