Happy Juneteenth from the Tennessee Valley Defenders!

Today, we honor June 19, 1865—the day news of freedom finally reached the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, a recognition of resilience, and a reminder of the ongoing pursuit of equality and justice.
As Defenders, we are committed to building a future rooted in courage, unity, education, and opportunity for all.

Today, we remember the sacrifices of those who came before us, celebrate the progress we have made, and continue the work of creating a better tomorrow.
