Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod Calvary Lutheran Church and School lives under the cross of Christ.

From the five crosses that hang in the heart of Calvary’s sanctuary, to those found on the walls of our Christian Day School, our members, students, families and staff are forever reminded that we are saved by Jesus’ death and resurrection, because God loves us. Empowered by that love of God in Christ Jesus, our mission is to Engage People In Christ through Connecting, Learning, Caring, and Serving.

PRAYER: Jesus Christ, you are indeed the bread of life that nourishes my faith and strengthens my soul. In a world of many delicacies that seek to entice and draw me away help me to resist the things that will not satisfy my deepest hungers in life. Increase my faith and my faithfulness that I may follow you more closely each day. Amen.

PRAYER: Jesus Christ, you are the source of my strength each new day. Fill me this day with your Spirit that I may live each moment in the confident trust of your promises to me. Humble me in my moments of self-centered pride that I may learn to trust more in you and less in me. I ask this in your name. Amen.

Sermon by Pastor Sam Troemel from our worship service on June 21, 2026

Summary: Sometimes it feels like people hear us but aren’t listening to us. That was the case for the prophet Jeremiah as he spoke God’s word to God’s people. Like Jeremiah, you are also called to speak God’s word to God’s people. But how do you speak God’s word to people who don’t want to listen to you?

Sermon Text – Jeremiah 20:7-13
Series Title – Pentecost

PRAYER: Jesus Christ, fill this week with the blessings of my new life in you. May my words and actions be filled with compassion and kindness, with humility and peace. You have made me a new creation and for this I rejoice. Guide my steps in the week ahead that I may live each day under the blessings of your steadfast love. Amen.

Recording of this weekend's Contemporary worship service • June 21, 2026, at 10:45 AM.

Theme of the Day:
In this world, faith is challenged, truth is questioned, and persecution is faced. Though hardships are always present, we are reminded that the Lord doesn’t leave us as we deal with doubt, despair, division or even danger. He gives His presence and assures us of His lasting promises. The world around us won’t change until Christ returns, but the Lord doesn’t change either. In and through Him, with faith and confidence we keep our trust.

PRAYER: Jesus, give me the strength to speak the message and words that you have out on my heart. Let me speak in truth, love, and gentleness, not growing tired of doing good. Amen.

PRAYER: Jesus, my risen Lord, you commanded your Church to preach the gospel to all nations. Prosper the work of missionaries sent out in your name. Protect them and their families from illness and danger. Give them joy in proclaiming the good news of salvation to people everywhere. Amen. (From Christian Worship: A Lutheran Hymnal, 135)

PRAYER: Jesus Christ, you have labored on the cross, so that I may rest in your love. As I begin this weekend, teach me to slow down to enjoy the gifts that you have given to me. I celebrate not only the beauty of your creation, but the blessing of your forgiveness and grace. May the worship of my heart and the praise of your church fill all my days. Amen.
