The Burmese American Community Institute (BACI) is a non-profit organization that provides social services, educational and vocational support to the Burmese in greater Indianapolis. The BACI also support community members regionally, nationally, and globally through collaborative initiatives, strategic partnerships, and advocacy.

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting the 15th Annual College & Youth Summit on June 26, 2026. At this event, representatives from Colleges and Universities will share scholarship & financial aid opportunities and other important information about their respective institutions.

All area High School students, middle school students, parents and community members are especially invited.

We have been engaging with advocacy activities in the past a few weeks nationally advocating for policies that help address some of the most pressing issues facing our community. Our special thanks to Honorable Senator Todd Young and Honorable Congressman Jefferson Shreve not only for hosting our delegation led by BACI President & CEO Elaisa Vahnie last week in Washington D.C. but also for their leadership and support. We look forward to deepening our substantive work together for the greater good.

We are delighted to welcome students and mentors to BACI 2026 Summer CPLDP. Students and their mentors have already been very busy in the past two weeks engaging in a number of innovative, highly interactive, fun activities. We look forward to learning and growing together as students continue to prepare themselves for college and endless success!

We are thrilled to welcome over 30 Researchers and Young Scholars this week who will be conducting research and investigating some of the most pressing issues facing our local community in a global perspective and to come up with policy and action solution recommendations at the end of this intensive project. We are excited and looking forward to learning, growing and changing the world together!

All High School Students in the US of Burma origin are invited to participate in the Essay Competition. The winner will receive a College Scholarship in the amount of $500.00. The deadline for submission is June 15, 2026.
