The team bringing this program together—
Last week I (Kathleen) met the IU School Psychology students who are volunteering their time and expertise to this program. They are each working through a rigorous master’s or doctoral program but see the benefit of dedicating two days of their summer toward experiencing the benefits of the human-animal bond.
I graduated from this same program in 2016 and now, through Stable Space, am developing a curriculum grounded in the evidence-based practices of SEL and experiential learning. I believe animals, particularly horses, have a unique way of accelerating this learning, making it feel motivating and relevant in the lives of young people.
People & Animal Learning Services (PALS) has been a positive community presence in Bloomington, IN since the year 2000. They bring many years of experience in equine-assisted services and strong community relationships. They are lending their time, talent, and beautiful herd to host this program Aug 3-4.
All of us involved (Stable Space, IU School Psychology, and PALS) are excited at the potential of this camp and believe it will benefit the children in our community. We hope to partner for many years to come!
Please spread the word and email [email protected] if you have a child age 8-15 that you’d like to register!
Stable Space curriculum is heading south! Looking forward to this collaboration with my alma mater (IU School Psych) and the organization that re-connected me with horses more than a decade ago (PALS)!
