Our 5th grade class began kindergarten in 2020, a year none of us will ever forget.

They started school virtually, learned to adapt before they were even old enough to understand what “normal” school was supposed to look like, and through every challenge, they kept growing.

This class has experienced joy, heartbreak, change, friendship, resilience, and so much love within the walls of George W. Julian. They supported one another like family, carried the memory of their classmate Hannah with them through the years, and helped turn our playground into a colorful place filled with love, laughter, and remembrance.

Some students have been here since day one. Some joined along the way. But together, they became something special.

Today, we celebrate ALL of our 5th grade graduates. The leaders, the athletes, the artists, the helpers, the comedians, the quiet thinkers, the big personalities, and every student in between.

We are so proud of who you are and who you’re becoming.

Once a Jet, always a Jet ✈️💙

What. A. Day. ☀️💦🎉

Field Day 2026 was full of laughter, teamwork, sunshine, relay races, water games, snow cones and SO many smiles! Our students had an absolute blast making memories with their classmates and teachers today.

A huge THANK YOU to our staff, volunteers, and families who helped make the day such a success. We also want to give a special shoutout to George Julian Parent Teacher Student Association for treating our students, staff, and volunteers to Aw'sum Snoballs shaved ice today. It was the perfect way to cool off after all the fun! 🍧💙

Days like today remind us how special the GWJ community truly is. ✈️

🌱 Just a few fifth graders planting more than a garden… they’re planting responsibility, teamwork, patience, and something our whole school will get to grow together. 💚

🎶✨ Future Musicians in the Making ✨🎶

A huge THANK YOU to T.C. Howe Middle School for inviting our 5th graders, along with students across the district, to explore and try out instruments as they begin thinking about their 6th grade class selections. What an exciting opportunity for our students to discover new interests and talents.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Principal, Dr. Bletzinger, for giving our 5th graders an impromptu tour and taking the time to answer all of their thoughtful questions. Your warmth and leadership helped our students feel welcomed and excited about the transition to middle school.

It was also such a special treat to see some of our former students thriving at Howe. Watching them grow and hearing about their experiences made the visit even more meaningful for our 5th graders.

We are so grateful for the partnership and cannot wait to see our Jets continue to soar 💙✈️

There’s something special about watching students completely immerse themselves in learning. Our kindergarten was transformed into a castle, and for a little while, we were surrounded by royalty. The smiles, the dramatic play, the creativity… it was pure magic.

Experiences like this help students connect to the past in ways that stick with them. Scroll through to see our royal court in action! 🏰

🏰👑 Last week, our students stepped back in time!

In our Where We Are in Place and Time unit, we explored different time periods and learned about kings, queens, and royal life long ago. Students discovered how people dressed, lived, and spent their days in the past.

To wrap up the unit, students stepped inside a life-sized cardboard castle and took on the roles of royalty. Through dramatic play and imagination, they experienced history in a way that was engaging, memorable, and full of fun!

Learning comes to life when we can step inside it. 👑
