In observance of Juneteenth, all IUSD offices and facilities will be closed tomorrow.

Juneteenth is a federal and state holiday, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States with a focus on freedom, education and the many achievements and contributions of African American and Black communities.

Congratulations to our IUSD student-athletes and coaches for being recently honored with several prestigious Orange County recognitions!🙌🎉

From breaking national records to CIF successes, our students made waves across Orange County. 🏃‍♀️🏊🥎Special congratulations to our Orange County Athletic Directors Association Athlete of the Year honorees:

🏅 Summer Wilson (Irvine HS): New U.S. national record holder in the 3-mile run, beating out the previous record by over 6 seconds!

🏅 Natalie Keith (Northwood HS): Standout multi-sport athlete, earning two CIF championships in softball and flag football.

🏅 Blayze Borroto (Portola HS): CIF Scholar-Athlete Award winner who served as senior class president and captaining the water polo, flag football and swimming teams.

🏅 Andrew Maksymowski (Northwood HS): Named both OC Athlete of the Year & OC Boys Swimmer of the Year by the Orange County Register!

🌟James Hickson from Woodbridge HS was also named the Girls Swim Coach of the Year by the Orange County Register, following one of the most successful seasons in program history!

Another special shoutout to the OCADA 2026 Athletes of Character! Congratulations to these athletes and coaches for all their hard work and accomplishments during the 2025-26 season! 👏🏆

IUSD Board Member Connie Stone and Superintendent Cassie Parham have been added to the City of Irvine’s Wall of Recognition in honor of their significant contributions and dedication to our community.

They join a group of past and present IUSD Board Members, including Lauren Brooks, Dr. Jeff Kim, Katie McEwen and Cyril Yu, as well as previous Superintendents who have received this honor.

We are proud to see our Board Members and Leadership recognized for their hard work and commitment. ❤️

🎉Three IUSD students received the prestigious college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships! This award recognizes students for their exceptional academics, leadership and community impact.

These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship. Each college sponsor selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. 🌟

Congratulations to the 2026 Earth Day poster and video contest winners! 🌎🥳🎨 This year, there were 37 poster and 16 video winners across grade levels.

IUSD’s Sustainability Team held an Earth Day poster contest and asked students to create an original work of art demonstrating the theme, “Our Power, Our Planet: School and Community-led Climate Action.”
