This week, Scouting America hosted the Eagles on the Hill reception in Washington, D.C., bringing Eagle Scouts, youth leaders, adult volunteers, lawmakers, and legislative staff together on Capitol Hill. 🦅

The reception gave Scouts the opportunity to meet with federal leaders and share how Scouting has shaped their character, leadership skills, and commitment to public service.

Eagle Scouts represent the values of duty, service, community, and character. Their presence on Capitol Hill was a powerful reminder of Scouting America’s role in preparing young people to be active, engaged citizens.

Thank you to the lawmakers and Capitol Area Council who joined us in recognizing the impact of Scouting and the promise of the next generation and made this event possible.

Yesterday’s Gathering of Eagles was an inspiring reminder of the impact leadership and service can have in our communities and beyond — organized by the Council’s NESA Committee and generously hosted by Wavetronix in Springville. 🦅

👏🏼 Congratulations to Jonah Seegrist of the Timpanogos District and Troop 8, recipient of the Council Eagle Scout Project of the Year Award. Through 1,575 hours of service, Jonah led the development and improvement of a soccer field for children living at an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico — creating a safe place for recreation, fellowship, and joy. His project demonstrated exceptional leadership and a lasting impact that will bless lives for years to come.

We were also inspired by messages from Mike Perkins on becoming a leader worthy of your team’s trust, and from Brandon Fugal encouraging all of us to never stop exploring.

We are proud to announce the 2026 Adams Award National Winner: David Clark 🌟

David’s project began with a deeply personal mission. After spending much of his childhood receiving IV treatments, he knew how overwhelming the experience could be. So he set out to create something that would bring comfort, movement, and joy to young patients facing the same challenges.

Over nine months, David led 223 volunteers who contributed nearly 1,200 hours to build and paint colorful “IV lily pads” — wooden platforms that fit around IV stands and help kids feel more at ease during treatment. From fruit slices to flowers to whimsical characters, each lily pad became a moment of escape for young patients at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.

With a new grant, David is already building more lily pads and partnering with hospitals across the country. His project is a powerful example of what compassion and leadership can accomplish.

We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of the territory and council Adams Award winners. Your projects, your service, and your dedication to your communities continue to inspire. Thank you everyone for representing the very best of Scouting. 💛✨
