π When Ola Reiad moved from Egypt to the United States in 2001, she never imagined her journey would lead her to a first grade classroom at Biscayne Elementary Leadership Academy.
After raising her children and spending years as a substitute teacher, she found a passion for helping young learners discover something that lasts far beyond elementary school: confidence.
π¬ "I love to see my kids grow. Like, they changed."
For Ola, success isn't just about teaching students how to read, write, or solve math problems. It's about helping them believe in themselves, work through challenges, and understand that they are capable of more than they realize.
Every day, she creates a classroom where students learn through movement, hands-on activities, and real-world experiences that make learning meaningful and fun.
β€οΈ That's the kind of impact happening every day at Duval County Public Schools.

π Some people leave home and never come back.
Christina Williams did the opposite.
As a student at Fletcher High School, she dreamed of becoming a teacher. Today, more than 30 years into her career, she's still walking the same halls, inspiring students through hands-on science and helping them discover what's possible. π¬π§ͺ
Over the years, she's watched former students become doctors, researchers, and scientists. One even sends updates from Antarctica. πβοΈ
That's the thing about great teachers.
Their impact doesn't end when the bell rings.

What does mean to Silvia Ramirez?
For the Pre-K teacher at Duval County Public Schools' Spring Park Elementary, it means diversity, opportunity, and a place she proudly calls home. ππ«
Every day, Silvia helps her youngest learners build confidence, develop new skills, and believe in what they can accomplish. She hopes her students remember more than just what they learned in the classroom. She wants them to remember that someone believed in them every step of the way. π
"I want them to remember not only what they have learned academically, but remember that there is a person that believes in them."
Educators like Silvia are helping shape the future of Team Duval, one student at a time. πβ¨

π‘ The best teachers don't create students who all think the same.
They create classrooms where every voice matters.
At Julia Landon College Preparatory Middle School, Andrew Ohmann has spent the last decade helping students find the confidence to speak up, think critically, and engage with the world around them.
Why has he stayed with Duval County Public Schools for 10 years?
"The students prove me right every year."
That's the kind of impact that keeps great educators inspired.
At Team Duval, educators are empowered to be creative, build meaningful relationships, and help students discover what's possible.

π Three generations. One mission.
For first-year teacher Kimberly Cromer, Duval County Public Schools isn't just where she works. It's home.
A proud Duval graduate, Kimberly grew up watching her grandmother and mother dedicate their careers to students. Today, she's carrying that legacy forward as a second-grade teacher at Englewood Elementary Lambs.
"I would never move for all the money in the world. I just love Duval."
From teaching stuffed animals as a child to inspiring students to dream about college, Kimberly is proof that the impact of great educators lasts for generations.
At Team Duval, educators don't just teach lessons. They build confidence, create connections, and help students believe in what's possible.

π Some teachers choose a grade level.
Joyce Moussa always knew.
"I went to school solely to teach kindergarten. There was no other grade in my mind."
That passion is easy to see the moment you walk into her classroom at Abess Park Elementary School. Students are moving, participating, laughing, and learning. Every lesson is designed to keep young minds engaged and excited about coming to school.
But what stands out most isn't the activity.
It's the culture she's built.
Joyce believes respect goes both ways, and her students know they're cared for. That trust creates a classroom where children feel comfortable taking chances, asking questions, and growing both academically and personally.
After years in education, she's also found something special among her colleagues.
"The friendships... we're there to help each other if we ever need anything. I can't imagine leaving."
π₯ Watch Joyce's story and see how one kindergarten teacher is helping students build confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging from day one.

βSheβs someone we can always count on.β
Thatβs how Principal Annessia Powell describes Kimberly Hayes at Duval County Public Schools GRASP Academy.
Paraprofessionals are often the quiet force behind student success. They support instruction, reinforce lessons, help students build confidence, and ensure learning continues no matter what challenges the day may bring.
After changing careers, Hayes stepped into education and quickly became an essential part of the GRASP Academy team. Whether she's helping students break down words, strengthen reading skills, or providing extra support in the classroom, her impact reaches far beyond a single lesson.
Principal Powell says Hayes is βan extension of the classroom,β helping students succeed one word, one lesson, and one breakthrough at a time. π

π Not every victory comes with a trophy.
Sometimes it sounds like a student answering a question for the first time. Sometimes it's a student finding the confidence to use their voice.
At Duval County Public Schools Kernan Boulevard Middle School, Kathleen "Katie" Sengstack gets to witness those moments every day.
What makes her story even more special? Katie didn't start as a teacher. She began as an office assistant right here at Kernan. Encouraged by the people around her, she went back to school, earned her degree, and found the career she was meant to do.
Today, she leads the Communication Social Skills program, helping students with autism build confidence, communication skills, and independence.
"Kernan feels like home. It feels like I was put here for a purpose."
That's the power of Team Duval County Public Schools. We believe in our students, and we believe in our employees too. β€οΈ
