One thing about me... I keep a mobile office in my backpack.
This morning, after daycare drop-off, I searched "coffee shops" on Apple Maps hoping to find somewhere new to work for a few hours. That's how I stumbled upon The Mill in Kansas City.
First impression? Great space, plenty of seating, and a loaded menu.
Then I ordered my usual:
• Large caramel vanilla breve
The total?
$5.00.
But the coffee wasn't even the best part.
| learned that The Mill Café is operated by Ruskin High School seniors through the Hickman Mills Real-World Learning Center. Students gain hands-on business and workplace experience while serving up some seriously good coffee.
As someone who benefited from similar programs in high school, this absolutely made my day.
The coffee was fantastic, the mission is even better, and I'm officially sold.

Principal Beatty and Dr. Johnson joined the session with district leaders and directors, supporting Real World Learning Center programs. Fridays at RWLC mean one thing: Nitro Friday ☕. Mr. Beatty carrying on the tradition with his smooth nitro cold brew coffee from The Mill.

🌱 Something exciting is growing at the Real World Learning Center! Mrs. Brown, Dr. Johnson, and Principal Beatty spent time planting loofah seeds to prepare for future hands-on learning opportunities. We can't wait to see these seeds grow into a real-world learning experience for our students! 🌿✨
